Rush Limbaugh lays down the law for Republican candidates

Rush Limbaugh In Charge Of GOP

Rush Limbaugh, the de facto leader of the Republican Party, fires Mitt Romney

We all know Rush Limbaugh is the Godfather of the Republican Party. You listen to him, and do what he says, or you’re out. People often say that the President of the United States is the “leader of the free world.” No, sorry. If the POTUS is a Republican, Rush Limbaugh becomes the leader of the free world. Can you think of a scarier thought than Rush Limbaugh calling the shots for the entire planet Earth?

(I think I just threw up a little in my mouth. But I digress.)

Anyway, even when the President is not a Republican, Rush still runs the Republican party. He is now in charge of both the Senate and the House, because if you are a Senator or a House rep, and a Republican, you do what Rush says or you are out.

Similarly, Rush Limbaugh is the gatekeeper for the Republican Party’s process of putting up candidate for president.

Not long ago, Mitt Romney seemed to be indicating that he was thinking about running for President. Shortly after that, he indicated that he thought Anthropogenic Global Warming was for real and important. Then Rush said this:

Rush Limbaugh Ends Mitt Romney’s Presidential Aspirations over Global Warming

Then, Romney said this:

‘After putting considerable thought into making another run for president, I’ve decided it is best to give other leaders in the party the opportunity to become our next nominee.”

And so, in this manner Rush Limbaugh has fired Mitt Romney.

I hate the expression, “Grow a pair.” But, really, Republicans, do grow a pair when you get a chance. This is embarrassing.

Peter Sinclair has the whole story and more, here: One Week after Acknowledging Climate – Romney Out of Race

Elections matter!

Mitt Romney has proven his worth as a leader

And he’s not worth much.

Romney went to England and insulted the Queen.
He went to the Holy Land and insulted everybody there.
He went to Poland and insulted the Poles.

Then…

Over the last several hours, a YouTube video with clips from an anti-Muslim film reached the general awareness of islamisists in Libya and Egypt, who carried out some very intense protests that in Libya escalated to the murder of four US Embassy officials including the Ambassador to that country. In case you didn’t know, this is what is called an International Incident, and it is right up there with some of the most intense such incidents. Hopefully this will be handled and the violence will not continue and we’ll get past this, but this is also the sort of thing that could end up in another 444 Days in Iran or a modified and very unpretty Arab Fall to follow the recent rather rough Arab Spring times (which Romney referred to as a three year long process in a recent mispeak… that was all this year, Mitt).

When an International Incident, especially one in which Americans are killed overseas doing their duty, and especially when one of those murdered is a highly placed official (you can’t get more highly placed in an overseas post than “Ambassador,” of course) others who are involved in the national conversation, such as those running for election in an election season, begin with the following response: They STFU. First, you shut up, then you watch, listen, and learn, then you make a statement that unequivocally backs the US and the President and all that. This is an International Incident, not a scuff up over domestic policy or taxation or some other such thing. When a candidate for President fails to STFU (followed by words of unity and support) and instead does what Mitt Romney did, things can get worse instead of better.

You all probably know what Romney did; he turned the incident into an opportunity for a partisan attack on Obama. This is nearly, if not perfectly, unprecedented. No one has ever done this before. No one has ever done any of these things Mitt Romney has done before, during his overseas visits or in blathering about policy in reaction to this International Incident that he willfully misunderstands and uses for his own political gain.

I know this may be hard to believe, but I wonder…is it possible that when it comes to foreign policy and foreign relations, Mitt Romney is worse than George Bush Jr.? At least, people liked to have a beer with George, which I know, does not help a lot in interaction with Muslim governments or leaders, but still…

Romney is not a joke. He’s a foreign policy disaster.

Romney’s Fundraiser Party Yacht Does Not Fly American Flag

I remember back in the old days when failure to wear an American Flag Lapel Pin was a politically bad move for any politician. I wonder if Mitt Romney and his friends wore American Flag Pins on their lapel’s while they had a fund raiser earlier today on a foreign yacht that flew the flag of the Cayman Islands. And, I wonder if that place…the Cayman Islands…is where Romney keeps all his money, and if some of the “Missing Tax Returns” would show that?

The yacht, called the Cracker Bay and which has a dinging room large enough to seat 30 people, is owned by Gary Morse, who has given about $1,000,000 to a pro-Romney superPac. Morse is one of the very few super donors who have been supporting Romney who’s name we know, as Romney has refused to allow any of their names to be known. He is the first candidate in over a decade to withhold the names of his major donors. I assume that this is because among them there are names of criminals or leaders of terrorist states or something. I mean, why would you risk the bad press from being so secretive otherwise? I quickly add that when asked about all this, a top Romney aid said “”I think Gov. Romney is going to do what he has to to follow the law.” OK, whatever.

Also among those dining with the presidential hopeful were Mel Sembler, a supporter of Georg Bush, and oil executive Charlie Moncrief. The press was able to ascertain the names of these individuals by looking at their name tags as they left the area of the Yacth, but other attendees covered up their name tags like common criminals cover their faces with their prison-provided t-shirts or hoodies.

“I think it’s ironic they do this aboard a yacht that doesn’t even pay its taxes,” said a woman who lives aboard a much smaller boat moored at the St. Petersburg Municipal Marina.

Romney’s Cayman-based investments have come under fire during the campaign.

“It was a really nice event. These are good supporters,” said billionaire Wilbur Ross, an energy industry executive.

Romney Aide To Press: “Kiss My Ass” and “Shove It”

Shove what? Shove it where? He was not clear.

As Romney was walking away from Pilsudski Square toward his vehicle, reporters asked him about his string of gaffes and whether he had any comment for Palestinians…Romney ignored the questions and got in his car.

But his traveling press secretary was furious.

“Kiss my ass; this is a holy site for the Polish people,” said aide Rick Gorka. “Show some respect.” [he then went on to tell a reporter to shove it]

Wut?

For the most part, according to Jonathan Martin of Politico, Romney has avoided the press for the last week.

The isolation from the press has worked, as Romney has not been heard making an Polish jokes.
