  1. How come nobody told me about this!!!!

    Because for the last 30yrs LISP has been used almost exclusively by CS professor’s to legally torture their students.

  2. Lisp doesn’t actually lack state, it’s an impure functional language with mutable data types. Haskell, on the other hand, is pure lambda calc, and only simulates stateful computation through monads.
