This is from Parents magazine:
When you talk about “preexisting conditions,” you probably think of things like diabetes, heart disease and cancer. But the reality is that healthcare companies consider a whole slew of common health concerns preexisting conditions. Odds are, if you’re a mom, you probably already have one of them. And now that the American Healthcare Act passed the House of Representatives today—if it becomes law, your health insurer could charge you thousands more for your coverage or reduce your insurance coverage because of these “preexisting conditions.”
“Things that are incredibly common for women, including C-sections, pregnancy and postpartum care, will all be considered preexisting conditions,” says Kristyn Brandi, OB/GYN at Boston Medical Center, and current fellow at Physicians for Reproductive Health. “A lot of women would end up paying out of pocket for healthcare, which would definitely be a big problem for most women across the country. Women are particularly at risk because they use more healthcare than other people do. They don’t think of pregnancy as a preexisting condition, so people don’t realize how much they will be impacted.”
The repeal of the ACA, and the implementation of a huge tax break for the very wealth (same bill) will happen. All the yelling and screaming at Republicans in the world, which of course we should consider doing and which of course is meaningful in a number of ways, will not stop Donald Trump and his minions in the Republican Party from passing this bill, eventually. Probably by the end of July.
Fortunately, every two years, our Constitution lets us overthrow the government. I live in a district where we, the voters, have every intention of removing the Republican house member and replacing him with a Democrat. Do you live in a Republican district? Is it one of the two dozen or so that we will be changing? There may actually be as many as 70 seats in play.
And, of course, the Senate has to change too, but that may be a bit more difficult. This is why Trump is going to be in the White House for four years. Even if we change over the House, the Senate still acts as the jury for Impeachment, and a Republican Senate will never impeach Trump. Trump could wold down to the National Mall and shoot a tourist and the Republicans in the Senate would pass a bill giving him a medal for that.

How is that working out for you so far?

Yeah, but the new health “care” act doesn’t want to cover pregnancies either.
They cost insurers money.
They achieve their maximum of profit when they get the insurance premiums and then cancel as soon as a claim is about to be made.
Isn’t the mantra that private corporations MUST maximise profits? Funny how that isn’t believed to be the case when it comes to medical care, since that would void any ability to provide better cover to the private industry.
“Trump could wold down to the National Mall and shoot a tourist and the Republicans in the Senate would pass a bill giving him a medal for that.”
And blame liberals, democrats, Hilary and Obama specifically for it happening. Then use it to pass a bill to cut taxes.
Speaking of profit, how much of a distribution do you get from the corrupt profit at Westmill Solar Wow?
Who’s getting screwed so you can get it?
Wow – “Trump could wold down to the National Mall and shoot a tourist and the Republicans in the Senate would pass a bill giving him a medal for that.”
The scary part is that Wow has convinced himself that this really happened…
Never forget the famous words of Pete Olson from Texas:
Still pushing things that don’t have any basis in fact eh Betula?
dean – “Still pushing things that don’t have any basis in fact eh Betula?”
Sure it does, and Wow knows it. This goes back to Deltoid, so how would you know anything about it?
Please explain.
It’s from you, therefore the safe bet is that it is a lie.
Well if you loose insurance by the cancelling of the ACA, then isn’t any illness you now have …”a pre-existing condition”, which make everyone basically non-insured!
No need to buy coverage until you get sick, if preexisting conditions are covered.
They aren’t covered under this bill mikeN. That, and the fact that quality of coverage goes down, are among the issues.
“Well if you loose insurance by the cancelling of the ACA, then isn’t any illness you now have …”a pre-existing condition”, which make everyone basically non-insured!”
Yup. The fools who buy into the “no need to be insured until you’re sick” are ignoring the fact that under the new plan (if it passes) you wouldn’t get to get any insurance that is affordable.
No point in buying it if they can cut you out with caps on payout. Not forgetting that most of the working class who have private insurance have it via their employer, so don’t get to choose at all.
@ MikeN
Well, yes and no.
I understand and accept that health insurances companies would want to have a new customer getting a medical check-up, and to impose a (not overlong) delay before covering him/her.
I could (reluctantly) accept the idea that someone enlisting later in life, while suffering from various ails and chronic illnesses, should have to pay more.
That’s why, ideally, everybody should start putting money in some dedicated fund as soon as possible, and with the objective to have enough put aside for the day life and old age catch up with them. Not “if”, but “when”.
In effect, it’s the young, healthy people paying their fees now, who are currently paying the healthcare of older, less lucky people. That’s how it is in other countries with a shared* health insurance system, like mine, anyway. Not perfect, but we managed to get by, so far.
It’s insurance economics 101, really.
But charging more for stuff everybody, or most everybody are going to experience at some point in their life, themselves or through their spouse, children or other close relatives? That’s madness.
Health insurance should be about planning long-term and at the family level. Not just for yourself about what could happen to you five minutes in the future.
When I was in North America, I was deeply shocked to discover how your whole health insurance systems are gamed in favor of the insurance companies – a long list of stuff whose coverage is very limited, delayed, or non-existent; but more importantly, insurances tied to the employer means that the customer has a very limited control on which insurance company he will choose, in effect limiting the competition between companies. A very un-capitalistic thing in a country which prides itself on being a paragon of capitalistic values.
* you Americans don’t seem to have a word for “mutualisé” – shared risks, that I call insurance economics 101. That may be part of the issue. There is a reason the French health insurances companies are called “mutuelles”. For us, an insurance is meant to share the risk – and the cost – between as many people as possible. From online discussions I have been following, many Americans seem impervious to this concept.
A shared health insurance is not even a “socialist” concept. In my country, the first attempts at a nation-wide health insurance system around 1900′ were initiated or supported by right conservative politicians. Everybody, notably the factory owners, saw the benefits in having a workforce in good health.
dean – “It’s from you, therefore the safe bet is that it is a lie”
At least you admit you don’t know anything about it. Now, all you have to do is give an example of where I lied so that you can justify your imagination.
Let me show you how it’s done: Here is an example of a lie…
Wow – “Batshit, on the other hand, called Obama a retard with ABSOLUTELY NO ACTIONS TO ASCRIBE THAT STATE TO.”

Betula, what wow said about you was true. Again, the only person not telling the truth is you.
And I notice that there was no evidence provide by you to dispute the earlier but of lying you did,, just your usual fake deflection.
“I understand and accept that health insurances companies would want to have a new customer getting a medical check-up”
They will also insist you take more checkups than needed, because they get paid a proportion of what your care costs, so inflating your costs increases their profit.
And push more expensive medication because it’s not THEM paying for it, but their customer, and they get a cut of the expenses, not a flat rate for results.
Wow – “They will also insist you take more checkups than needed, because they get paid a proportion of what your care costs, so inflating your costs increases their profit”
Talking out of your ass again, eh Wow?
Hey, speaking of profits….when is your next distribution check due from Westmill Solar? It’s a quarterly check, correct?
An analysis of this discussion learns that also this discussion is being spoiled by trolls. The one and only constructive input in this topic has been given by some one from Europe, France. Is it that the old continent has learnt of the twentieth century to respect each other mutually as a necessity to cooperate and survive?
This discourse teaches us the importance and necessity of a minimum standard of civilized communication. For good thinking controversy is necessary as well as the classical virtues: humility, diligence, patience, kindness, moderation, prudence, justice and fortitude. This blog proofs again and again the necessity of these values, which this blog lacks completely. All topics on this blog being spoiled by trolls very much resemble the state of mind of the ‘greatest’ state of the world in decline. What we see here is a guerrilla of trolls. In this forum one at least has debunked itself as a perfect cooperative of Donald Trump. Every dictator needs a ministry of disinformation and cooperatives. Let the one whom this concerns throw the first stone. Laren NH, Saturday July 1st, 9.58 AM DT.
This was so predictable a whine from you, great boogers, that I had already copied the text before even clicking on this thread:
No, it just shows that without any actual thought people will retire to complaining about presentation rather than do any effort to support their claims, great boogers.
For instance, you never looked into the actual lithosphere of the planet earth and how much energy would be needed to supply to make it warp and move like you claim, then investigate the energy released by the melting of ice caps to see whether it would supply that energy and over what time it could occur.
No, you just whined “But I really BELIEVE this crap!!!! Stop calling me a dumb fuck for doing that!!!!”.
