“We will always have people in this country, through hardship, through no fault of their own, who won’t be able to afford health care. That’s just the way it is.”
Here’s the video:
Bachmann’s solution for health care: Get in a time machine and go back to when medicine was cheap.
See Bachmann on the spot in Iowa. As pointed out by Avidor, this could be why Bachmann hasn’t held more tan one town hall meeting in her own district.
Five Dollars. Indeed. Have a sandwich, Michele:

This is what wards look like in India (they aren’t the cleanest of places. They usually smell of body fluids since patients are crammed into every available space. This is actually a very nice and calm day at this ward with all the people who normally are treated on the floor being shooed away for the day.)
This is India’s attempt to treat it’s 1.2 billion people with a budget that would be considered laughable by most countries. It’s an amazing attempt to provide healthcare despite being so sorely outnumbered.
It’s actually shocking that Bachmann would say something so utterly callous when even 3rd world nations who suffer crippling resource issues are trying to achieve a socialised medical system.
Uh… has Bachmann heard of inflation?
“We will always have people in this country, through hardship, through no fault of their own, who won’t be able to afford health care. That’s just the way it is.”
No it isn’t. There are no Canadians who can’t afford healthcare.
Why is it that whenever I hear one of the republinutters talking about health care, I get reminded of the HMO & Drug company rep in the Pacemaker radio show in GTA4?
Also am I the only person who finds her voice especially irritating?
