That quote is actually from his novel Contact and is a quote by the protagonist. It isn’t completely clear in context how much Sagan’s agrees with the statement.
But it is a very good point!
I wonder what the odds are that Sagan had a lineage of rabbis somewhere in his ancestry? 🙂
