When you stand up for Alex Jones, this is what happens

Spread the love

You look like an idiot.

I say that not because Alex Jones is an ass and you are defending him. That just makes you a jerk, potentially. I say that not because I am an enemy of free speech, or I think free speech only applies to me and not to the likes of Alex Jones. No. I say that because you actually do look like an idiot because you are standing up for a principle you do not understand, and you are probably doing it with incomplete information but an attitude of righteousness.

You are complaining about censorship, and this isn’t really censorship. A dress code in a private school, a rule against talking loud in a theater, that sort of thing, is not censorship, and a company like Facebook saying you can’t act like Alex Jones, say the kinds of things he says, on their platform, is not censorship either.

There is actually a sort of third party liability here that you appear to be ignorant of, being an idiot and all. If I own a strip mall and somebody gets mugged out in front of a store, that is recorded. If someone gets raped in one of the stores, that gets recorded. If it turns out one of the stores is selling crack, that gets recorded. After a while, in most civilized cities or counties, my strip mall can get condemned as a hazard, taken away from me, torn down, and the land sold off. That sort of thing happens. When some deplorable disciple of Alex Jones goes into a school and kills a bunch of teaches and kids because of a conversation on Facebook … well, probably nothing happens because we are not really set up to deal with that sort of thing. But this would be the sort of thing any social networking platform would prefer to avoid, and can legally and ethically avoid, by getting rid of very bad actors on the platform, and Alex Jones is a bad actor of the lowest order.

The simple fact of the matter is this. In American society, and American law, we define free speech and censorship pretty clearly. There may be edge cases, but this is not one of them. Private corporations like Facebook, YouTube and the others who have tossed him off have the legal right to ban anyone. Period. This is something you do not know.

You come in my house without permission, no matter what you want to say, I’ll throw you out. Not censorship. You get drunk in a bar and start saying things to the server that threaten him or her, the bouncer throws you out. Not censorship. You start acting out in a school and saying things that shock and distract the students, guess what. Not censorship. If you yell fire in a movie theater, there better damn well be a fire, or anything that goes wrong because of what you did is your fault. A civil suit against you on behalf of the victims crushed by the crowd is not censorship.

Here’s the thing. It does not matter that you do not know this. This is probably not your speciality. There is probably some other thing you are good at, like noodling, or driving an Uber or something.

But when you present yourself as a hand-wringing, concerned citizen who is stepping up to the plate to preserve liberty for all, it just does not impress. It is even worse when you TOTALLY don’t understand what you are talking about, like the Internet denizen who noted, “The bad part of this is that if corporate sponsors can cut one person, they can cut others.” What?

As an aside, your coming to the aid of Alex Jones, inappropriate, could be considered not as stupid but as deplorable. When Ted Cruz came to Alex Jones’ defense, as a US Senator and all, he certainly knew that this was not censorship, but he acted like it was anyway. So, it is quite possible that someone will accidentally think you are not an idiot and, instead, think you are a deplorable. Or maybe the other way around. Either way, not good for your rep.

Consider thinking your position. I’d suggest that you rethink your position, but you would have had to have thought it out to begin with, and that is something you did not do.

  1. Hey loser. Free speech is a American right. Free speech and the first amendment exists to protect speech people and government does not like not just speech everyone agrees upon. You ignorant fake left scum bag.

    1. Grrrrrrrr
Who gives a fuck about ” American ” bullshit. Christ , yanks just can’t stop talking about themselves.
Ya covered by Article 19 UDHR.
Don’t take A19 and only run with that though. Ya better keep A7 at the back of the head and A1 at the front.
Ahahaha America free speech first amendment rah rah rah. It’s unreal how yanks talk. One never hears such shit from any other nationality. Never fucking ever.

    2. You’re a moron. First amendment only protects our speech from the government, not from each other.

  2. Gee, Michael Russo, are you a Russoian troll? Ha, ha! Anyway, it is probably way beyond your comprehension rating, but businesses which trade in media and communication products have a number of rights and obligations that mean that, if they want to set up protocol for use of their services, and a customer violates that protocol, bye bye customer. Doesn’t really have anything to do with free speech. It’s all legal. The trogoldyte known as Alex Jones clearly has a number of issues with anger management, perception, reasoning, and personality. If, because of these problems, he can’t follow the rules that a business has legally established, then he has to take his sorry ass elsewhere. Sorry. Bu-bye, bozo. Not a free speech issue.

You know, Michael, or should we call you Mikhail? You know Mikhail, ignorant people who want to bath in bull shit can still do so by listening to Alex Jones at any one of a number of bull shit sources. Not sure why anyone who is not an idiot would want to do so, by God and the constitution, they can still do it! So what is your effing problem?

BTW, your epithet of “ignorant fake left scum bag” is quite telling. Did you get that from watching Koko the ape sign? Reminds me of her calling someone a “green shit”. Cute. How, by the way, is an ignorant fake left scum bag any different from an ignorant genuine left scum bag to you? Which is worse? Just wondering. Inquiring minds would love to know. Just trying to get the meaning that you weren’t able to articulate.

    Anyway, have a great day.

    1. SteveP My guess is you are a poll smoking government troll. Sorry but social media uses the public internet. Much like your fake news whic is on the public airwaves or your phone service which is government regulates. The FCC can dictate what you can say on public TV, like foul language for example. So using the excuse that FB or Youtube can censor makes as much sense as having your phone company cutting your line because they don’t like your political ideology. You neoliberals make me sick. You don’t even understand your own rights and someday you won’t have any but from the tone of your comment, I am guessing it would be wasted on you anyway.

  3. SteveP Calling me a Russian troll just tells me you are a liar and can’t make a legit argument regarding the first amendment. The same kind of asshole that believes everything the fake news CNN, FOX, and MSM tells you.. Haha… What a loser.

  4. Anonymous and/or Michael Russo aka Mikhail Russia:

Could you two get your shit together and start making some sort of sense? Because you aren’t making any sense at all. Alex Jones is a personification of a cave man. Pre-human, unintelligent, paranoid, and dangerous. His stupidity has resulted in the parents of Newtown shooting victims getting death threats. Is that something you want to defend? Jones tells bald faced lies to get idiots over excited, which is not much different than yelling fire in a crowded theater when there is no fire. So he is getting sued for defamation. Good. I hope that that rotten son of a bitch gets taken to the cleaners. And all you rotten sons of bitches idiots who stand up for this moron need to get some new brain cells. Maybe get a stem cell transplant.

Fucking Russia lovers are such asshole idiots. Have a great day!

    1. Your opinion about Alex Jones has no baring on whether he has free speech rights or not. Proof, you are a knuckle dragging moron who knows nothing about government, the regulatory system or human intelligence. Trying to tie Alex Jones to what ever shootings still has no baring on his free speech. By the way, any lawsuits against Alex and Infowars are still in litigation. There is yet to be a outcome of guilt. So your argument is bullshit. You do reserve the right to sue if you are defamed by someones words. You don’t have a right to deny them their constitutional rights. What an idiot.

    2. First Amendment:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

      Congress. Not Facebook. Not Youtube.

    3. Congress. Not Facebook. Not Youtube.

There is no legal bar on FB and YT et al. setting out rules of conduct for users of their sites. Those rules are neither censorship nor contravene individuals’ rights under the 1st A. They are legitimate requirements of compliance for anyone wishing to use FB, YT etc.

This is not complex. It is not hard to understand. The arguments that YT etc have engaged in censorship or violation of the 1st A are baseless nonsense.

      Enough already.

    4. SteveP :

Well writ and spot on – except for the “caveman” personification. Pretty sure our earlier ancestors were (almost all?) more intelligent, honest and, in context better behaved than Alex Jones. They had to be to survive. Had someone behaved like Jones with so much deluded craziness back in the old days and misled their society so much then, i strongly suspect, they’d quickly come to a miserable end and probably be expelled from their group. Well that or lead it to their mutual destruction.

Saying Alex Jones behaves like a stereotype of a bad “primitive caveman” OTOH, would be pretty much 100% right.

/nitpicking -ironically apt for the context! Thinks chimps, bonobos and other species grooming.

  5. Amazing, isn’t it?

Right after a clear and correct explanation as to why FB or YT shutting down clowns like Jones is not a 1st A violation, up pop the muntering idiots shouting ‘censorship’.

How stupid is it possible to be?

    1. Stupid or simply dishonest it’s difficult to say. Flatly hypocritical is another possibility, especially when it is noted that ol’ scumbag jones’ website had a statement that says people can be bannes for violating his guidelines ( guidelines which probably consist of one line: Facts not allowed here).

  6. I shed no tears for Alexander Emric Jones. Even if he’s completely barred from Facebook, YouTube, iTunes, Spotify (did I miss any?) — and twitter too — he’ll still have his three Web sites (on the Internet!) and his radio show on the Genesis Communication Network.

    Ergo, no censorship.

  7. It is absolutely true that kicking Alex Jones off Youtube is not a violation of his free speech rights. In fact the power to kick him off is an expression of Youtube’s free speech. But it goes both ways. If Youtube decided to kick off all the critics of Alex Jones that would not be a violation of free speech either.

The thing is I seem to remember a call to regulate what social media publish on this very blog. Other countries do attempt to regulate it.

    and then there is this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcPrWogpyNE

    1. But it goes both ways. If Youtube decided to kick off all the critics of Alex Jones that would not be a violation of free speech either.

No, it wouldn’t, and as long as there was evidence that these hypothetical critics had violated the same TOS guidelines Jones did nobody would complain — unlike the crybabies who are crying (wrongly) “censorship” about Jones.

The thing is I seem to remember a call to regulate what social media publish on this very blog.

      Proof? Link?

  8. a company like Facebook saying you can’t act like Alex Jones, say the kinds of things he says, on their platform, is not censorship either.

Then what is it.? And why only righties.?

What a specious and myopic opinion piece.

Best to avoid issue of civic and ethic; not your strong suit.

Ok, GL bots, commence your universal coordinated attacks.

    1. Read until understood, Billy boy:

There is no legal bar on FB and YT et al. setting out rules of conduct for users of their sites. Those rules are neither censorship nor contravene individuals’ rights under the 1st A. They are legitimate requirements of compliance for anyone wishing to use FB, YT etc.

This is not complex. It is not hard to understand. The arguments that YT etc have engaged in censorship or violation of the 1st A are baseless nonsense.

    2. It isn’t censorship asshole because Facebook isn’t the government.
It isn’t censorship because shitbag racists like Jones still has many ways to get his hatred and lies out.

Either you are too stupid to understand those things or simply a dishonest little butthurt cupcake is difficult to tell: you’ve never given an honest or factual comment about anything so there is no solid footing on which to base a decision.

There is also the point that after several warnings jones continued to violate FB’s terms of service, which leads to the obvious conclusion that he was trying to get banned to gin up his ignorant supporters with his fake cries of censorship: it’s clearly worked with one fool (looking at you billyR).

Oh — I’m sure you’re equally as upset when he bans people at his locations for violating his terms of service.

Amazing — not only do you not deserve any respect due to your habitual lying, you don’t deserve any respect because you choose to defend a person who claims children weren’t killed at Sandy Hook and repeatedly insults their parents.

  9. K9 dean dream, you need to Al Gore yourself.

    https://www.aclu.org/other/what-censorship

“Censorship, the suppression of words, images, or ideas that are “offensive,” happens whenever some people succeed in imposing their personal political or moral values on others. Censorship can be carried out by the government as well as private pressure groups. Censorship by the government is unconstitutional.”

You are a shithole of ignorance.

    1. No billyR, I don’t need to adjust my comment, since I don’t buy your bogus argument. There is no “pressure group” here, it is a business declaring who can and who cannot use their product.

Don’t blame others because you don’t have the capacity for thought.

(It is interesting that you slavishly follow everything the ACLU says. I’ll remember this when you purposefully lie about something they do.)

  10. “There is no legal bar on FB and YT et al. setting out rules of conduct for users of their sites. Those rules are neither censorship nor contravene individuals’ rights under the 1st A. They are legitimate requirements of compliance for anyone wishing to use FB, YT etc.”

Witter and Zuckerbook can do as they like, however, it is censorship since
it is only applied to righties and not lefties.

They lie and are specious, rather than simply state they are bias
to their friends on the left and Muzzies.

BTW, BBW, I am glad no one was kilt by the Jihad attack
on Parliament. Oh, yes, be careful you do not get moted. (over 17,ooo
cases of moting last year in the UK)

    1. however, it is censorship since
it is only applied to righties and not lefties.

Close to a sentence, but not there (and no evidence to support what you’re trying to say.

They lie and are specious, rather than simply state they are bias
to their friends on the left and Muzzies.

Even further from coherence, just as lacking in any attempt to support yourself. You really need to get back on your meds.

    2. Witter and Zuckerbook can do as they like, however, it is censorship since
it is only applied to righties and not lefties.

A flat-out lie. Blatant lying is what you do when you have no argument but lack the moral integrity to admit it.

BTW, BBW, I am glad no one was kilt by the Jihad attack
      on Parliament.

Not sure if it was terrorism or not as yet, but yes, it’s fortunate that nobody was killed.

What is unfortunate is that the President of the USA is peddling his race hate memes even here in the UK and that his witless supporters are assisting in the process. It’s worth remembering that for every nutcase ‘Jihadi’ there are millions of law-abiding Islamic Britons who the racists would all tar with the same brush.

  12. Hail Azoola:

Put on your full body condoms, the sperm of truth
    is in motion.

“The journalist Glenn Greenwald, hardly a conservative ally, weighed in on Twitter: “Aside from fueling right-wing persecution, this is a key reminder of dangers of Silicon Valley controlling content.”

    https://gizmodo.com/former-facebook-workers-we-routinely-suppressed-conser-1775461006

“Facebook workers routinely suppressed news stories of interest to conservative readers from the social network’s influential “trending” news section, according to a former journalist who worked on the project. This individual says that workers prevented stories about the right-wing CPAC gathering, Mitt Romney, Rand Paul, and other conservative topics from appearing in the highly-influential section, even though they were organically trending among the site’s users.”

“Several former Facebook “news curators,” as they were known internally, also told Gizmodo that they were instructed to artificially “inject” selected stories into the trending news module, even if they weren’t popular enough to warrant inclusion—or in some cases weren’t trending at all. The former curators, all of whom worked as contractors, also said they were directed not to include news about Facebook itself in the trending module.”

“Depending on who was on shift, things would be blacklisted or trending,” said the former curator. This individual asked to remain anonymous, citing fear of retribution from the company. The former curator is politically conservative, one of a very small handful of curators with such views on the trending team. “I’d come on shift and I’d discover that CPAC or Mitt Romney or Glenn Beck or popular conservative topics wouldn’t be trending because either the curator didn’t recognize the news topic or it was like they had a bias against Ted Cruz.”

“The former curator was so troubled by the omissions that they kept a running log of them at the time; this individual provided the notes to Gizmodo. Among the deep-sixed or suppressed topics on the list: former IRS official Lois Lerner, who was accused by Republicans of inappropriately scrutinizing conservative groups; Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker; popular conservative news aggregator the Drudge Report; Chris Kyle, the former Navy SEAL who was murdered in 2013; and former Fox News contributor Steven Crowder. “I believe it had a chilling effect on conservative news,” the former curator said.”

“Another former curator agreed that the operation had an aversion to right-wing news sources. “It was absolutely bias. We were doing it subjectively. It just depends on who the curator is and what time of day it is,” said the former curator. “Every once in awhile a Red State or conservative news source would have a story. But we would have to go and find the same story from a more neutral outlet that wasn’t as biased.”

Stories covered by conservative outlets (like Breitbart, Washington Examiner, and Newsmax) that were trending enough to be picked up by Facebook’s algorithm were excluded unless mainstream sites like the New York Times, the BBC, and CNN covered the same stories.

Other former curators interviewed by Gizmodo denied consciously suppressing conservative news, and we were unable to determine if left-wing news topics or sources were similarly suppressed. The conservative curator described the omissions as a function of his colleagues’ judgements; there is no evidence that Facebook management mandated or was even aware of any political bias at work.”

“That same curator said the Black Lives Matter movement was also injected into Facebook’s trending news module. “Facebook got a lot of pressure about not having a trending topic for Black Lives Matter,” the individual said. “They realized it was a problem, and they boosted it in the ordering. They gave it preference over other topics. When we injected it, everyone started saying, ‘Yeah, now I’m seeing it as number one’.” This particular injection is especially noteworthy because the #BlackLivesMatter movement originated on Facebook, and the ensuing media coverage of the movement often noted its powerful social media presence.

(In February, CEO Mark Zuckerberg expressed his support for the movement in an internal memo chastising Facebook employees for defacing Black Lives Matter slogans on the company’s internal “signature wall.”)

I have emailed Zuk and told him we have an excellent roll
of bloggers here, whom would make fine curators.

  13. It doesn’t matter how much you howl about media bias when you are the one pushing fake news. And that is what the right does – it deals in lies and misinformation. The reactive attempts by FB et al. to screen out the worst of the barrage of lies doesn’t amount to ‘liberal bias’ – it’s just necessary to keep the flood of fake news off their platforms.

Shall we talk about the editorial integrity of Breitbart, or are you smart enough to let this go before you get it shoved up your arse?

  14. Hail Azoola:

    Time for a little levity.

Grandpa Was Summoned For an Audit

The IRS decided to audit Grandpa, and summons him to the IRS office. The auditor was not surprised when Grandpa showed up with his attorney.

The auditor said, ‘Well, sir, you have an extravagant lifestyle and no full-time employment, which you explain by saying that you win money gambling. I’m not sure the IRS finds that believable.’

‘I’m a great gambler, and I can prove it,’ says Grandpa. ‘How about a demonstration?’

The auditor thinks for a moment and says, ‘Okay. Go ahead.’

Grandpa says, ‘I’ll bet you a thousand dollars that I can bite my own eye.’

The auditor thinks a moment and says, ‘It’s a bet.’

Grandpa removes his glass eye and bites it. The auditor’s jaw drops.

Grandpa says, ‘Now, I’ll bet you two thousand dollars that I can bite my other eye.’

The auditor can tell Grandpa isn’t blind, so he takes the bet.

Grandpa removes his dentures and bites his good eye. The stunned auditor now realizes he has wagered and lost three grand, with Grandpa’s attorney as a witness. He starts to get nervous.

‘Want to go double or nothing?’ Grandpa asks ‘I’ll bet you six thousand dollars that I can stand on one side of your desk, and pee into that trash can on the other side, and never get a drop anywhere in between.’

The auditor, twice burned, is cautious now, but he looks carefully and decides there’s no way this old guy could possibly manage that stunt, so he agrees again.

Grandpa stands beside the desk and unzips his pants, but although he strains mightily, he can’t make the stream reach the wastebasket on the other side, and he pretty much pees all over the auditor’s desk.

The auditor leaps with joy, realizing that he has just turned a major loss into a huge win.

But Grandpa’s own attorney moans and puts his head in his hands.

‘Are you okay?’ the auditor asks.

‘Not really,’ says the attorney. ‘This morning, when Grandpa told me he’d been summoned for an audit, he bet me twenty-five thousand dollars that he could come in here and pee all over your desk and you’d be happy about it.’

  15. How the.. Who the.. What the flying fuck
Are the elephants completely utterly fucking nuts? Seriously. What the fuck are yanks taught by schools? By their parents?
This shit is the fringiest fringe outlying shit.
And the elephants deem him a suitable candidate? Rather than say, piss off cunt, you are not aligned with the parties platform.
    God damn.

    https://m.scmp.com/news/world/united-states-canada/article/2159066/hitler-was-right-lurid-bigotry-steve-west-republican

    1. Seriously. What the fuck are yanks taught by schools?

Look at the unhinged and fact free screeds written by billyR, mikeN, rickA, and others of the same mind. Do you see any indication of the ability to think rationally among them? Expand that across the country.

    2. So what if this Alex Jones cockhead put himself up for elephant nomination somewhere? Would they go yeah righto? Bloody heck? Do they just take anyone? Would they take a conspiratist pamphleteer like that flashy toothed bodgy salesman Donald Trump? Are there not standards the general public feels are appropriate no matter what ones view on taxation or agricultural policy?
      Something is very very wrong.

    3. I sort of always had it in my head that that nutters belong to very very small political parties. Large parties don’t want any association with them. No way nutters would get preselection.
And yet, jeez. Who’s running the fucking elephants? History books are gonna fucking doom them. Can’t they see it?

    4. The elephant party said this…
“Steve West’s shocking and vile comments do not reflect the position of the Missouri Republican Party or indeed of any decent individual,” the statement said. “West’s abhorrent rhetoric has absolutely no place in the Missouri Republican Party or anywhere. We wholeheartedly condemn his comments.”
Good. So whyeeeee is Steve West the person they have chosen?
There’s something I’m not getting about the process maybe.
One dosnt allow nominations by people who don’t follow the platform. One then dosnt elevate that person to preselection and endorsement under a party banner to fight against a different parties candidate.
      I don’t understand.

  16. So whyeeeee is Steve West the person they have chosen?

The local leaders were asked precisely that. The said

    > Nobody asked him to run
    > He wasn’t recruited
    > They don’t “vet” the views of their candidates
    > His nazi worship, general anti-Semitism, and bigotries against other groups (the same bigoted views the president espouses) flew under their radar

In short: they thought he would win and didn’t think they would get bad press for it, now they’re backpedaling.

    1.  They don’t “vet” the views of their candidates.
      * bangs head on table *
Arhhhhgggg! Do they not understand what a political party is?????? And it’s function ( at least as far as a party being in the mechanism of governance)?
      Disendorse the cocksucker immediatly.
“Go ahead run for the elected position. But you got nothing to do with our party. Form your own if ya want.
You knew the party platform so why did you even seek preselection in the first place? Why did you wanna be associated with us?”
And not one single voter, member of the public, radio listener, member of another party, spoke up a long time ago and went ” hey um, somethings not quite right here ” .
It dosnt take much for an individual to alert to a potential irregularity. Letter to the paper. Letter to elephant head office. Spray paint on a wall.
If ya some party official and ya get ANY sort of inkling that a candidate is alleged to be, even if it’s scribbled on a toilet door, really very much with sugar on top out of alignment with party thinking, ya gonna have at least a cursory nosey.
Oh well. Best of luck yanks in ya nuclear weapon ridden shithole with crap schooling. Yas have lost me. I just shake my head now.
I just got a fucking death threat ( in public for all to see!!! ) from some loon yank climate denier on a different part of the internet and don’t feel well disposed to think about solutions to help yas.

  17. You see readers, not a single rebuttal from the three
    chief lefty trolls.

Just, a yawn, just a personal attack, just more gutter
pose from little d, the f-bomb thrower.

    1. The sad thing about people like you Billy, is that unless you are among the richest 1% of the general population (which, judging from your illiterate rants clearly is not the case), then you are one of those being totally and utterly shafted by the policies of Trump and the Republican Party. If Trump and his goons laid out their political agenda clearly, they wouldn’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell of being elected. Essentially this gang is looting the US Treasury for themselves, with Trump and his circus representing the freak show for public consumption while behind the scenes his Party, made up primarily of millionaires, silently redirects the nation’s wealth to further enrich themselves.

In order to get elected they rely on people like you who are essentially useful idiots to grasp at the straws they throw your way in the form of soundbites on race, religion and guns. Scapegoating is one of Trump and the Republican Party’s tried and trusted strategies to get the politically gumbifed masses to blame migrants, refugees, illegal immigrants and other nations for America’s decline as a manufacturing base, while completely ignoring the real culprits: neoliberal capitalism, globalization, outsourcing, capital flight and automation.

Now I am not letting the incompetent Democrats off of the hook. As Paul Street and others explain, they are almost as beholden to the banks and corporations as the Republican Party. Far from being a left wing Party, they are also fully embedded in the neoliberal capitalist system as the Republicans. Liberalism is dead in the United States because so-called liberals have theown in their lot with neoliberal capitalism, deregulation, social inequality and militarism. Chris Hedges wrote quite elegantly about this is his book ‘The Death of the Liberal Class’.

Essentially, given that the United States is a plutocracy through snd through, a new political Party is urgently needed. That being said, anyone from the general population like you supporting Trump and his cronies seriously needs medical treatment.

    2. You see readers, not a single rebuttal from the three
      chief lefty trolls.

      Learn to read, fuckwit.

  18. Hiding behind the skirts of the 1st amendment of the US Constitution while lobbing falsehoods, slander, and misinformation at a susceptible public is, to a normal person, one of the bigger perversions of intent that people like Alex Jones and his supporters are guilty of. Denying the murderous acts of the dead gun lover, the highly leaded Adam Lonza, while slandering and endangering the parents of his victims, is an atrocity, a crime against human decency. Alex Jones and his supporters are all guilty of this and worse crimes. Our president is a supporter of Alex Jones, and that is a remarkably foul state of affairs.

  19. “On Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “All In,” Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) stated that while some of President Trump’s supporters are bigots, he doesn’t believe the majority are.”

For the dean of all deans. I guess BS is now also a liar.

“The sad thing about people like you Billy, is that unless you are among the richest 1% of the general population (which, judging from your illiterate rants clearly is not the case), then you are one of those being totally and utterly shafted by the policies of Trump and the Republican Party.”

Jeffro, unlike yous, I do not need The Donald nor anyone else
to take care of me; which apparently not the case with you.

you gun haters are a sorry lot of control freaks.

  20. ” Essentially this gang is looting the US Treasury for themselves, with Trump and his circus representing the freak show for public consumption while behind the scenes his Party, made up primarily of millionaires, silently redirects the nation’s wealth to further enrich themselves.”

Jeff, you should report your factual findings to, Heinrich Mueller.

There is now an opening on Team Mueller, now that very special agent
Strock is gone. BTW, he is forming the exFBI-MS13.

    1. Of course, since he was removed from the investigation when his behavior was found he had no influence on it.

His influence is on the weak-minded losers.

  21. There are a number of people who stand to gain by exaggerating the supposed victimization of Alex Jones and the supposed infringement of his free speech rights. Dictatorial authoritarians stand to gain when the “persecution” of Alex Jones can be misrepresented as a failure of government, and therefore as a false justification for crushing the free media. Cruel and sadistic people, those who like to cause discomfort among innocent and decent people, those who gain sadistic pleasure from trying to torment others, can use the Alex Jones case as an amusement for themselves. And Russia always snickers when Americans viciously turn on each other. Alex Jones is a gift to Russia and to people who treasure cruelty and childishness.

  22. In fairness, I must say that joke by BillyR was funny. Gross, but funny.

However, I was expecting a different ending, in which grandpa climbed atop the desk (thereby standing on the top side) to do his business.

  23. Alex Jones has not lost any of his free speech rights as far as I can see. Can he still put a soap box on a street corner and blubber his fry gibberish? Yep. Can he still have his childish, idiotic, science free blabber flow through his Info Wars site? You betcha! Can he send nonsense through twitter, once his one week cooling off period is over? Yes! Can he take out an ad in the NYT or any other paper in the US and put his mental diarrhea out there for the gullible to ingest? Affirmative. So where, pray tell, are any of his free speech rights being infringed by the government?
If you disqualify any fruit loop, back woods conspiracy hypotheses, there is no evidence that this human blow hole is having his first amendment rights infringed.

Alex Jones , a person that I assess as being a child minded idiot, or a really sharp con man masquerading as a child minded idiot, or something in between, is still free to blather all over the country on any number of issues, at any number of websites, although at this point, his lawyers are probably urging him to show some restraint to prevent further law suites against his business.

So right wingers, please don’t try to play the victim card. Especially after you have made such a big issue about the act of claiming victim-hood. If a public or private company tells Alex Jones that he has violated the company’s rules of engagements, and he is kicked off, this is not a constitutional issue; especially if he has in fact violated the company’s rules of engagement.

If Alex Jones serves any benefit to society, it is, IME, only that he serves as a warning to others not to wreck yourself on the shoal of stupidity. It looks to me like we had better smarten up our culture before it is so out of whack with our written laws, and the laws of nature, that normal, reasonable exercise of free speech becomes pointless.

    1. “Alex Jones has not lost any of his free speech rights as far as I can see. ”

No, he hasn’t, nor has he been censored. He’s simply been told that if he wants to use the services used by a business he has to follow the rules put out by that business.

You’d think the “real patriots” would be able to understand that, but as the vocal right wingers here have demonstrated they fail even that low bar of an intelligence test.

  24. What strikes me is the blatant display of hypocrisy. It’s been made clear that social media aren’t an anything goes free-for-all, and that persons and organizations that sign up for social media commit themselves to adhering to certain specified standards. If someone, e.g. Alex Jones, fails to abide by those standards, then he in effect is violating the contract and can thereby lose his right of use. Normally, conservatives have no problem when it comes to corporate freedom of speech or the right of corporations to restrict the speech or other rights of employees. Employees can be forced to sign non-disclosure agreements. They can be forced not to discuss pay with each other or can be forbidden from seeking similar kinds of work, etc. When corporations abuse their power in ways that benefit the directors and majority stockholders and suppress workers, “conservatives” never complain. I’ve never observed “conservative” outrage over Trump’s omertà use of non-disclosure agreements, whose very purpose is to protect Trump by denying freedom of speech.

And now there’s the case of John Brennan, who’s used his freedom of speech to condemn Trump, and whose use of free speech Trump describes as “erratic conduct and behavior,” justifying the revocation of his security clearance. I’m waiting for the “conservative” first amendment outrage.

    1. And now there’s the case of John Brennan, who’s used his freedom of speech to condemn Trump, and whose use of free speech Trump describes as “erratic conduct and behavior,” justifying the revocation of his security clearance. I’m waiting for the “conservative” first amendment outrage.

      Oh, me too.

And stripping Brennan of his security clearance because he exercised his First Amendment Rights is a grotesque abuse of Executive power. One that could easily be seen as a further lurch toward tyranny.

Where oh where are the ‘Constitutionalists’ when the Constitution is under attack once again?
