I’m sure you’ve heard the riot-gear clad police cleared the Occupy Oakland protesters out of their holdings early Monday morning. In a more recent development, legal adviser to the Mayor of Oakland, Dan Siegel, has resigned:
Outraged by the action taken against Occupy Oakland, Dan Siegel, who had been serving as mayor Jean Quan’s legal advisor, decided to resign today. On Twitter, he wrote that he was resigning to support Occupy Oakland and oppose the 1 percent.*
His tweet said: No longer Mayor Quan’s legal advisor. Resigned at 2 am. Support Occupy Oakland, not the 1% and its government facilitators.
His Twitter Handle is @DanMSiegel in case you want to follow him!
Wow. I would not have resigned though, better to speak out and stay put; otherwise they will replace you with someone that does support the regime, and it will be the stronger.
But there are plenty of more fifth columnists so maybe it is the right thing to do. It will send the right message to them.
Very brave, he deserves all our support, and with our whole persons including our pocketbooks.
It’s time for people to stop frittering about with giving 50 bucks a year to some dumbshit cause that pulls your heartstrings and realize that you should be donating your whole earnings for the day; it is the equivalent of volunteering for a day, but you keep your job etc.
