DId you ever wonder if people “back then” really sounded like Rudolph Valentino or if there was just something wrong with all the recording equipment?

Interesting. Although I’ve heard the recording many times I just assumed it was made on a wire recorder, which were not known for great dynamic range. So how was the correct playback speed determined?
I believe the speed was adjusted to make the voice sound like that guy sounds in all his other recordings.
Rudolph Valentino? What did he sound like? There are only two known recordings of him, those are singing and he doesn’t have a high thin voice. Did you mean Rudy Vallee?
I probably mean Rudy Vallee.
