The main reason that a government shouldn’t be run like a business is the profit motive. There is a key point here that the “government should be run like a business” people miss. The goal of government is decidedly not profit. The purpose of government is …

  1. The purpose of government is …

um, to provide a relatively safe outlet for the aggressive proclivities of wannabe alpha males (and the occasional confused female…)

  2. As I read in another blog, it’s something about the way people see things in a very simple, almost black and white, way. They are just too uneducated (I won’t say stupid) to appreciate the complexities of any situation.

If you’ve ever heard truckers or factory workers talk to each other itâ??s interesting. You’ll hear a few of them talk like they have all of the worldâ??s problems solved. They solve them with just a few sentences too: â??All the republicans have to do isâ?¦.â? or, â??All we have to do in Iraq isâ?¦â? or, â??To solve our drug problem all we need to do isâ?¦â? or, â??To help our economy thereâ??s just one thing we need to doâ?¦â? [Fill in the blanks].

Itâ??s black and white for them. They know the answers; most all of the answers, even though I can tell from their answers that they have never had a good education. (Hint: Most problems are more complex than simplistic solutions can afford). They are ignorant and donâ??t know they are ignorant because they’ve never learned or thought of the complexities of the issues they speak of. If I were to question some of their answers they might probably look at me like I was some kind of Communist or Homosexual (and thatâ??s bad you see).

  3. The government shouldn’t operate for profit (so why do so many politicians profit from it), but that’s no excuse to squander the public’s money either.
