The AFA Boycott Of Ford: Christian Antigay Group Caves, Claims Victory
The Mississippi Based anti-gay hate group “American Family Association” was founded (under a different name) by the well known anti-Semite Reverend Donald Wildmon to battle pornographic television shows such as “Three’s Company” and “Dallas.” About two years ago, the AFA initiated a boycott against Ford Motor Company to attempt to force Ford to change certain practices. The following Crimes Against the Family were cited by the Christian based conservative Republican wingnut AFA: Continue reading The AFA Boycott Of Ford: Christian Antigay Group Caves, Claims Victory
Conservatives: What you really really want is to make the gay people get married. Now.
A guest editorial post on gay marriage by Jimmy James Bettencourt.
I do not understand why gay marriage is not a conservative issue.
Gay people have been getting away with all kinds of shit for too long and it is time to stop. Straight people are getting screwed and if the government is going to do something useful, they should act now in every state … and nationally … and not just in California and Massachusetts.
Gay people already have several built in advantages in life over straight people. The very fact that they do not have to spend time and energy negotiating with members of the opposite sex in relation to personal matters such as sexual liasons or household division of labor gives them time to expend energy on other things such as running businesses, getting educated, and supporting political causes. Thus, in all the ways we expect people to behave in this free-market democracy, gay people have a significant advantage. And I for one am tired of it.
Everybody knows that the “old boy’s club” is the way to go if you want to get things organized. But the gay version of this … and there is more than one possible version … is clearly much more organized and powerful. I suppose this is because gay people are, once again, less distracted by the difficulties of being straight. This is probably why quasi-gay organizations like Bohemian Grove and the Tri-Lateral Commission have pretty much taken over the worlds of finance and arms trafficking. respectively.
Ooops… shhhhhhh.
This is National Day of Silence. A nice concept. I would have participated but I did not know about it. Maybe next year.(Although probably not next year either … it might be to ironic for me.)
Anti-Gay Kern In New Flap
Remember Sally Kern?
Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, which only two weeks ago reached out to an Oklahoma lawmaker who said gays are “the biggest threat our nation has, even more so than terrorism,” is now involved in a new dispute with Rep. Sally Kern (R).Kern accuses the group of misrepresenting remarks she made at March 27 meeting with PFLAG. Following the meeting the organization said that Kern told representatives and several clergy members that “I agree with” the idea that gay and lesbian Americans should not be fired from their jobs because of their sexual orientation. Those present said in a media statement that Kern also agreed to consider an ongoing dialogue with PFLAG families. But Kern this week told The Oklahoman newspaper that PFLAG had misrepresented her statements.Wednesday PFLAG released an audio tape of the full 40 minute meeting on its Web site.On the recording Kern can be heard twice agreeing with the PFLAG supporters that gay Americans should not be fired from their jobs simply because of their sexual orientation. She goes on to say that “maybe” she would consider a follow-up meeting with PFLAG families in her district and agrees to a dinner invitation from a PFLAG supporter in the meeting. Near the end of the conversation, Kern is asked, in recapping the conversation, if she does indeed oppose anti-gay job discrimination; she responds affirmatively that she does.”Representative Kern’s words speak for themselves,” said Rev. Loyce Newton-Edwards, president of PFLAG’s Oklahoma City chapter in a statement.”The recording, which we made with her staff’s consent, is irrefutable evidence that she did agree with us on employment non-discrimination; that she did agree to consider an ongoing dialogue with us; and that she did agree on some basic principles of fairness and equality. It is beyond disappointing that she has now stepped away from those comments, and it is disheartening that she, as an elected leader, has attempted to disavow her own words.”rest is here.
Gay Marriage: It is economic
I would think a conservative would insist that gay couples be married. One of the most important thing that marriage does is to protect parties in areas of financial responsibility. Gay people are getting away with shunning their fiscal responsibility. These Republicans never made any sense to me.Now, there is evidence that there is yet another economic implication of gay marriage, where it is legal. Continue reading Gay Marriage: It is economic
