Most appropriate, a test in the Kaplan Daily (The test prep co. owns the Wash Po, or vice versa)
Your Results:
You passed! Your score was 100%, well done!
And I thought finding a job was going to be hard! Sadly for you, I’ll make a terrible copy editor. I really only excel at multiple choice tests and eating.
Got just 6 of 10. Guess I FAIL.
HalfMooner. I also differend with the Post on four points of style. Fail? No way! The newspapers do not own the stinking language!

Seriously? Is this some kind of bought and paid for journalism then, making us all like tests or something?
I made a dumb mistake on the dean of the law school one. Dean should not be capitalized, but I knew that. I clicked the wrong answer!
A friend of mine’s name is Dean and he is a dean.
If you really are looking for an editor, I think I can hook you up with one who has about 40 years experience. I can tell you it will not be free if that is what you are looking for. If you are interested, you can contact me at the email address listed with this post.

But the Editors do own it at the newspapers. Just ask ’em. Actually, I sympathize. Keeping the prose in a standard format makes the papers look more professional. Even when the contents are trivial crap.
My score was 7/10, dumb mistakes, but seeing how often the editors fail in their editing job, I don’t think I did too badly.
Dang, only 6/10. I doubt I’ll track down the AP Manual of Style though; every damned Manual of Style is different from the next.
Yeah. Like I am really supposed to know whether or not they have “unfollow” in their particular stylebook.
P.S. The spellchecker didn’t like it either, hahaha.
