Holy crap – those temperatures are more like Phoenix Arizona at this time of year. I wonder how much the ENSO and QBO may be contributing; in the antipodes the summer was way cooler on average. Well, some folks with the IPCC are finally trying to establish whether there really are more numerous and more extreme weather events (a very welcome change from the 20 years of “difficult if not impossible to prove, but we claim it’s true anyway) – unfortunately it may be quite a few years yet before they have a result. Damned nature – why doesn’t it work the way we want it to?
