OH MY GOD I want to punch that guy.
The 77 cents to the dollar issue is adjusted for such things as time and job and whatnot, asshole. Women make 77 cents for every dollar a man makes regardless of average time worked, regardless of job they hold, it’s well-known.
And he’s a total condescending asshole, kind of like “let the big men speak honey, don’t worry your pretty little head about these matters.” Misogynists, here is your icon.
And lies after lies after lies. Every time I hear “gasoline has doubled under the Obama administration” from a Republican mouthpiece, I know they’re a big liar. They know it’s because the economy tanked. They know it’s not Obama’s fault. They know he can’t do much about it. It’s a big, fat, lie.
Plus, if you DO factor in the baby thing, what this means is that women pay the social and economic costs of PEOPLE having babies. (There is generally a father involved in our species!)
I have all kinds of things I want to say about that guy but my legal team has advised against it.
I love that Rachel was not putting up with any of Alex C.’s condescension and called it what it was. Hillary’s comment about Romney’s wife was right on target, although poorly worded. I still can’t figure out how such a privileged person can take that statement and turn herself into a wounded victim. Yes, the GOP won the women’s vote in 2008, but that is BEFORE they started their dehumanization of the XX.
I had to stop watching at 2:29 of the first video. He couldn’t even shut up and refrain from interrupting her answer when the Man In Charge stepped in and told him to stop.
The GOP have dug themselves into a deep hole with women, and know it. Unable to win on the actual issues, they are in the unenviable position of having to lie about it all. It’ll only get worse.
Alex Castellanos (Rethuglican spin doctor) is smirking and red-faced because he is being outclassed. Rachel Maddow points out lie after lie, and AC counters with more lies.
DLC is right that the GOP, and Romney in particular, have backed themselves into a corner with their anti-women (and no matter how AC and their ilk try to spin it, it is what is is) rhetoric, and all they can do is continue to lie.
Greg, your legal team shouldn’t stop you from telling the truth.

I know! Right?????

That vile, smirking, red faced guy is Alex Castellanos.
Rachel is nicer than I would have been. It took a lot for me not to curse out loud while watching the first segment.
Do these people honestly believe the crap they’re spouting?
