This week, we’re joined by Robert FitzPatrick, founder of Pyramid Scheme Alert, and co-author of False Profits: Seeking Financial and Spiritual Deliverance in Multi-Level Marketing and Pyramid Schemes. He’ll discuss the promises and pitfalls of schemes, and how to tell legitimate direct selling from multi-level marketing scams. And on the podcast, we’ll speak to Paul Piff, researcher at the Institute of Personality and Social Research at the University of California, Berkeley, about his research on the relationship between social class and unethical behavior.
We record live with Robert FitzPatrick on Sunday, April 22 at 6 pm MT. The podcast will be available to download at 9 pm MT on Friday, April 27.
Could you please include some questions to Patrick about “The Landmark Forum” and and their multi-level marketing program? In Landmark, to advance, you need to take progressive expensive classes after completing their ‘Large Group Awareness Training’.
Not sure I buy this…
Slightly off-topic: Greg, I’d be interested to see your opinion on this. The argument feels weak and presumptuous to me but I’m not sure that I’m qualified to critique it…
Ugh. If you are familiar with only five percent of the literature on a topic and jump back and forth between bits and pieces like he has in that blog post it is going to be annoying.
The evidence for pre 250 thousand year old fire was outlines in our paper (the one the Horizon show mentions) and since then the evidence for early fire has increased. Nobody is seriously going about this in a “backwards” way. Phooy.
People have done research like he suggests regarding cooked/raw meat. Again, familiarity with the literature is helpful.
