… if Obama raises taxes.
I thought raising taxes on the rich was a good idea. Now I KNOW it’s a good idea.
Acording to Mediaite: “O’Reilly made the claim during his Talking Points Commentary …”
“If you tax achievement, some of the achievers are going to pack it in. Again, let’s take me. My corporations employ scores of people. They depend on me to do what I do so they can make a nice salary. If Barack Obama begins taxing me more than 50%, which is very possible, I don’t know how much longer I’m going to do this. I like my job but there comes a point when taxation becomes oppressive. Is the country really entitled to half a person’s income?â€
Bill O’ Reilly makes 20 million a year for letting people listen to him be a blowhard on the radio and national television. Bill O’Reilly will quit that cushy job if he is taxed such that he only makes just over 10 million dollars. Because having no income (or income around the average salary of 40k if he takes a job that isn’t Highly Paid Right-Wing Hatemonger) but paying less taxes is that much more appealing to him than getting 10+ million, after paying the same amount in taxes. I think, of all the things O’Reilly thought he illuminated during that broadcast, the most clearly revealed was the fact that O’Reilly doesn’t know how numbers work.
That might be the best reason ever for raising taxes.
Quit Fox News and do what? Drive a bus so that he won’t pay so much in taxes?
I demand remedial math classes for the rich. If the marginal tax rate is 50%, it’s mathematically impossible for them to take half your income.
If you make a gazillion dollars a year, yes, the effective tax rate will approach the marginal tax rate, but it will never, ever equal it in a progressive tax system.
It would be interesting if, like Warren Buffit, Bill would publicize how his current tax rate compares to the underlings who depend on him. He might also want to explain how this tax inequality and historically low tax rate for the rich relates to the current unemployment. I thought low taxes for the rich would mean more jobs.
Anything that would get rid of Bill would be a good thing.
Adios, douchebag! Don’t let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.
Bill O’Reilly sets a bad example for the rest of the world. Just another Republican mobster.
So, Bill-O is an example of a productive rich person who would quit being so productive if he were taxed a little more? Fine with me. I happen to think that Bill-O reduces productivity.
Seriously, how could anyone be worth multi milions per year? If I were getting paid 5 mil a year to spout off on TV every day and they wanted to cut me to 750 thou a year, part of which would be taxed higher than before, I’d stay on TV just for the lulz. At this point I’d be on TV for 35 thou a year both for the lulz and because that would be a huge step up from what I have been reduced to.
please quit everyone knows Fox lies!
