First we had this: Deputy AG suggests shooting Wisconsin Demonstrators to Death
Now, this: Indiana attorney general fires deputy over ‘live ammunition’ tweets aimed at Wisconsin protestors (sic)
Ahh… if only it was always this easy.

“Cox told WRTV he realizes the tweet wasn’t a good idea, but he doesn’t think public employees should lose their free speech rights.”
He hasn’t lost his free speech rights, it’s just become clear from his use of free speech that he wasn’t fit for the job.
“Cox told WRTV he realizes the tweet wasn’t a good idea, but he doesn’t think public employees should lose their free speech rights.”
Free speech does not mean the freedom to yell “Fire!” in a crowded NRA convention.
We’ve had some cases recently of teacher getting fired for (anonymously) saying mean things about their (anonymous) students. This is different: if someone was making the same suggestions about government officials, this deputy AG would be all over him like flies on shâ??like cops on a fleeing suspect.
Greg, your blog is being spammed by bots. That last comment is nothing but amateur trollery signed with a commercial URL.
Greg, I dunno, the guy was a former comedy writer. Expressing emotions online can be tricky, you can’t know if the other person is being sarcastic, ironic, kidding or what. Losing your job over a tweet… I guess his tweet “backfired”.
Hmmm… IBM laptops… vacuum cleaners….
If he’s a comedy writer he should understand the difficulty of expressing sarcasm over something as lame as twitter. But, that’s “former” and I doubt it’s in his job description. (And some comments I saw somewhere where this was reported make it sound like he may be a dickhead.)
A little further from here, it looks like Herr Doktor Baron zu und von Guttenberg, defense minister of Germany, may be going down. His seemingly ghost-written and highly plagierized doctoral thesis has already been withdrawn.
GREG have you shrunk these input boxes down here since I’ve last used them?
Derek: He was an AAG.
The input boxes are not modified.
Timberwolf: Yeah, I know. You should see what you don’t see!
