The man who stomped on the head of a woman at a Rand Paul campaign event has been identified, and it is a person close to Paul and involved in the campaign. He was one of several campaign workers who seemingly premeditated the attack, part of which was recently caught on videotape.
Here are more details, from the woman who was wrestled to the ground and stomped on by Tim Profitt, who has been identified as one of Paul’s local campaign coordinators (a volunteer position). These are the words of the stompee herself, Lauren Valle:
I have been at a bunch of events before, the previous debate, and the Rand Paul campaign knows me and they have expressed their distastes for my work before. What happened last night was that about five minutes before Rand Paul’s car arrived they identified me and my partner, Alex, who was with me. They surrounded me. There was five of them. They motioned to each other and got behind me. My partner Alex heard them say ‘We are here to do crowd control we might have to take someone out.’
When Rand Paul’s car arrived a couple of them stepped in front of me so I stepped off the curb to get around them to get back out front. At that point they started grabbing for me and I ran all the way around the car with them in pursuit. The footage is after I’ve run all the way around the car and I’m in front of the car and that is when they took me down. One or two people twisted my arms behind my back and took me down… It was about two-to-three second after that that another person stomped on my head. And I lay there for 20 seconds or so and my partner Alex came and got me up and that’s the point where there is the media clip of me speaking.
Apparently, the local police are pursuing an assault complaint made by Tim Profitt’s victim.
Also note that the campaign has now fired him: http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/news/2010/10/apnewsbreak_paul_volunteer_apologizes_for_scuffle.php?ref=fpblg
Of course he can’t even manage an actual apology but is trying to turn it into blaming police for not doing something to the activist. Really charming.
yeah, I love that.
I’m sorry I stompped the lady’s head, but if the police had stopped me BEFORE I did it, it wouldn’ta happened!
Fucking morans.
By the way, there were three, four, five or so men involved in this. Profitt was just the head stomper. Others chased her and wrestled her to the ground. They, apparently, have NOT been tossed out of the campaign.
“I’m sorry I stompped the lady’s head, but if the police had stopped me BEFORE I did it, it wouldn’ta happened! ”
It’s even _funnier_ to hear this from RonPaulians since they are so big on ‘small government’ and ‘personal responsibility’.
You’re giving him too much credit. More likely, his argument is: “I’m sorry I stomped the lady’s head, but if the police had stopped HER before I did it, it wouldn’ta happened.”
After reading the report[link posted by joshua zelinsky(no 1)], it seems that blaming the victim is the new Teabagger approach. “Tim Profitt, a volunteer with the Republican’s U.S. Senate campaign, told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the camera angle made the scuffle Monday night appear worse that it was. He criticized police for not stepping in and says other supporters warned authorities about the activist.” He has been removed, but what about the others? And when does the victim of this gross assault get an official apology from Mr Paul or his campaign manager? The group of words involved in “Hell, freezing point of, etc” is hurrying to my tongue.
We are seeing that a lot of so-called conservatives in the USA are really really ready to don jackboots and start running everyone’s lives for them. They have a problem with the idea and practice of democracy. They simply do not understand either.
He’s blaming it on his back now.

What the teabaggers want is a society run by bullying. That is why they want small government, the usual role of government is to prevent coercive bullying.
The reason the teabaggers want a society run by bullying is because they don’t have the ability to be in charge in any society run by anything else.
That is the path to fascism.
First thing that came to mind:
“If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human faceĆ¢?? forever.”
Bullying is right. The strongest characteristic of conservatism is an extreme desire for authoritarian rule. It’s due process of law they can’t stand.
But Jon Stewart said, in his recent “Fresh Air” interview, that the country would be “okay” if the Teabaggers started winning seats!
