Sorry to disapoint all of you, but the energy the orange battery produced came from the zinc that was inserted into it. That zinc was not produced in a carbon neutral way. (neither were the oranges for that matter).

I’m no engineer, but I sense that there may be a couple of obstacles to using this as a large-scale power source.
If you leave the fruit on the tree, does it charge longer?
