Le Petit Singly, a French company, now produces cheese made from human breast milk. And it is not really new.Apparently they’ve been doing this for some time now.”Small Singly is the only cheese made from a woman’s breast milk, and has remained for a long time in the shadows of the more ordinary cheeses made of sheep, goat, or cow’s milk. … made with the expertise of master cheese maker Patrice Cosma … With a tint of hazel nut and a subtle caramelized colore, its softness and texture will undoubtedly allure you. This cheese was discovered in the 19th century, and follows grandmother’s traditional recipe. …” (very roughly translated)Order your cheese here.
Hoax?
Apparently, the protein content of breast milk is too low to make proper cheese. It cannot properly curdle, preventing the possibility entirely. Here’s a link.
I don’t think so.
the webpage for the cheese has a few details about how it’s made; they apparently add something to help it curdle, and do so under high pressure.
Heston: “French cheese is made out of… PEOPLE!”
The FAQ page has some priceless Babelfish.Quelle diffĂ©rence y a t-il avec du lait de vache ?becomesWhich difference has there T-it with cow’s milk?and 15 Euros for 500 grams seems very inexpensive considering the source.
Ahhh, c’est dommage. It’s just not the same as a lactation fetish.
The Museum of Hoaxes isn’t impressed:http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/hoax/weblog/comments/4585/
It’s already popular in Kazakhstan! Just ask Bob Barr.
It could be a hoax, but I’m not impressed with these hoax-busters. They provide no evidence other than what is on the site and a bucket full of conjecture.
Even if it is true, I wouldn’t want any cheese made from milk of a mammal that feeds at such a high trophic level. I get enough PBDE exposure now, thank you very much!
Do not eat cheese made from human breast milk from cheese eaters within the footprint of the chernobyl meltdown.
Am I to understand that they’re milking humans? Do the women have to be “freshened up” like cows? What do they do with the extra babies? Are these women hooked up to milking machines? There’s a really awful short story by Piers Anthony that takes place some time in the future where humans have killed off all the other animals and we are forced to domesticate other humans. It takes place at a dairy farm where all of the cows are human women and there’s a big hairy guy kept in a seperate pen who’s the bull. It was pretty weird and graphic. I think he was making a point about animal slavery or something, I’m not too sure. The human milk-cheese sounds like a hoax to me.
