{"id":5191,"date":"2012-03-25T14:32:52","date_gmt":"2012-03-25T19:32:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/freethoughtblogs.com\/xblog\/?p=2787"},"modified":"2012-03-25T14:32:52","modified_gmt":"2012-03-25T19:32:52","slug":"obamacare-vs-the-affordable-health-care-act","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gregladen.com\/blog\/2012\/03\/25\/obamacare-vs-the-affordable-health-care-act\/","title":{"rendered":"Obamacare vs. The Affordable Health Care Act"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was recently at a political debate in which one of the debaters, <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/gregladen\/2012\/03\/controlling_the_message_in_the.php\">Brian Barnes<\/a>, said he did not like the term &#8220;Obamacare,&#8221; lamented that the Republicans are better at coming up with catch phrases than we Democrats are, and suggested that instead of &#8220;Obamacare&#8221; we call it &#8220;The Affordable Healthcare Act.&#8221;  The person debating against him, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sharonsund.com\/\">Sharon Sund<\/a>, didn&#8217;t really agree or disagree.<\/p>\n<p>As a side note I&#8217;ll mention that one of the reasons we have this health care is because of the tireless activism of lots of people including Sharon.  Thanks Sharon.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2788\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2788\" style=\"width: 290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/freethoughtblogs.com\/xblog\/files\/2012\/03\/BabyObamaCare-290x300.jpg?resize=290%2C300\" alt=\"\" title=\"BabyObamaCare\" width=\"290\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2788\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2788\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Obamacare Baby Suit<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Anyway, I always liked &#8220;Obamacare&#8221; as a term &#8230; I wanted to take that term right from the hands of the Republicans from the beginning.  In fact, I made Obamacare Baby Suits and Adult Tee-Shirts, though nobody bought any from me.
