Here&#8217;s the info:<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>What<\/strong>: \u201cGreat River Energy \u2013 Leading Cooperatively toward a Cost-Effective<br \/>\nand Carbon Constrained Future\u201d<br \/>\n<strong>When:<\/strong> Tuesday, January 9 at 7:00 pm<br \/>\n<strong>Where:<\/strong> at Great River Energy, 12300 Elm Creek Blvd N in Maple Grove, 55369<\/p>\n<p>Northwest Metro Climate Action and Great River Energy invite you to an information session on Tuesday January 9 at 7 pm titled \u201cGreat River Energy \u2013 Leading Cooperatively toward a Cost-Effective and Carbon Constrained Future\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The event will take place at Great River Energy, 12300 Elm Creek Blvd N in Maple Grove, and is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Great River Energy is a \u201cgeneration and transmission\u201d cooperative that provides electricity to local electric co-ops across Minnesota. GRE has taken numerous steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.<\/p>\n<p>At this event, Zac Ruzycki of Great River Energy will describe GRE initiatives like these&#8230;.<\/p>\n<li>Energy saving features of GRE\u2019s headquarters building in Maple Grove, the first LEED Platinum commercial building in Minnesota.<\/li>\n<li>the \u201cReVolt\u201d program that offers 100% wind energy at no extra cost for car charging by electric customers who buy electric vehicles<\/li>\n<li>GRE\u2019s program to help homeowners save money and reduce carbon footprint through use of electric water heaters that use cheaper nighttime electricity<\/li>\n<li>a pilot project to bring electric school buses to Minnesota that will reduce emissions, fuel costs and maintenance costs<\/li>\n<li>GRE has accelerated the depreciation of its largest coal-fired generating plant so that its members will not be saddled with a \u201cstranded asset\u201d if or when burning coal becomes off-limits.<\/li>\n<p>Northwest Metro Climate Action is a group of residents of Maple Grove, Plymouth and surrounding suburbs who are working to broaden understanding in the northwest suburbs of the reality and seriousness of the climate change problem.<\/p>\n<p>This event is free and open to the public.
