I refer of course, to Makey Makey, which comes in <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B008SFLEPE\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=B008SFLEPE&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=grlasbl0a-20&#038;linkId=be7e22cf8f0451067482ec8a7ba44c71\">regular<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=grlasbl0a-20&#038;l=am2&#038;o=1&#038;a=B008SFLEPE\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/> and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B01GGTU8P0\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=B01GGTU8P0&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=grlasbl0a-20&#038;linkId=8055f8ae332d64e1cd6cbae25ed7c52d\">special<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=grlasbl0a-20&#038;l=am2&#038;o=1&#038;a=B01GGTU8P0\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/> packaging. The difference between the two really is just packaging, with the former minimalist, the latter fancier but also harder to open.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the idea behind the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B008SFLEPE\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=B008SFLEPE&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=grlasbl0a-20&#038;linkId=60f8f50e39fd49aa85bcdd0015a8fc91\">Makey Makey  &#8220;In Invention Kit for Everyone&#8221;<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=grlasbl0a-20&#038;l=am2&#038;o=1&#038;a=B008SFLEPE\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/>.  It is a device that ground-faults safely, and when so doing, sends a signal to a serial output that can be the USB input for a computer. The signal it sends depends on which part of the device is shorted out, and corresponds to a key or mouse move. So, you can hook the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B008SFLEPE\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=B008SFLEPE&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=grlasbl0a-20&#038;linkId=60f8f50e39fd49aa85bcdd0015a8fc91\">Makey Makey<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=grlasbl0a-20&#038;l=am2&#038;o=1&#038;a=B008SFLEPE\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/> up to a banana and the banana becomes your space bar, or whatever. Don&#8217;t worry if they already have one, they need more.  If they&#8217;ve never heard of it, this will change their lives. Guaranteed.<\/p>\n<p>If you know someone who is beyond just getting started with the Arduino, consider <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/159327744X\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=159327744X&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=grlasbl0a-20&#038;linkId=ab9ac1ef874e425acbbd675c8b782622\">Arduino Playground: Geeky Projects for the Experienced Maker<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=grlasbl0a-20&#038;l=am2&#038;o=1&#038;a=159327744X\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/>.  It is not for the faint of heart. Unless the faint of heart person plans to build a pacemaker with an Arduino!<\/p>\n<p>The Raspberry Pi is a full on computer that is very tiny yet powerful, and merely needs to be hooked up to a screen, keyboard, mouse, and storage device(s), to work. You may know someone who has one, but do they have a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B01CD5VC92\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=B01CD5VC92&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=grlasbl0a-20&#038;linkId=c5ebeb71f559ae4e23c3d98e17a9cf16\">Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Motherboard<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=grlasbl0a-20&#038;l=am2&#038;o=1&#038;a=B01CD5VC92\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/>? This new version is a huge upgrade.  And, if someone is just staring out, a starter kit such as the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B01C6Q2GSY\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=B01C6Q2GSY&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=grlasbl0a-20&#038;linkId=44eb93b9d7c82c763f0cfefe501cc1f7\">CanaKit Raspberry Pi 3 Complete Starter Kit &#8211; 32 GB Edition<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=grlasbl0a-20&#038;l=am2&#038;o=1&#038;a=B01C6Q2GSY\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/> is nice, because it has other parts and fun things.<\/p>\n<p>Or, a robot.
