{"id":21118,"date":"2015-05-08T07:08:52","date_gmt":"2015-05-08T12:08:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/gregladen\/?p=21118"},"modified":"2017-10-27T15:11:36","modified_gmt":"2017-10-27T20:11:36","slug":"bjorn-lomborg-pulled-from-australian-consensus-centre-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gregladen.com\/blog\/2015\/05\/08\/bjorn-lomborg-pulled-from-australian-consensus-centre-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Bjorn Lomborg Pulled From Australian Consensus Centre Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the last several weeks we&#8217;ve seen the University of Western Australia <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/planet-oz\/2015\/apr\/23\/australia-paying-4-million-for-bjrn-lomborgs-flawed-methods-that-downgrade-climate-change\">accept a $4 million dollar Federal<\/a> grant to develop a &#8220;Consensus Centre&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/comment\/view-from-the-street\/view-from-the-street-so-is-copenhagen-consensus-centre-just-a-us-postbox-20150505-ggtu45.html\">in the mold of Bjorn Lomborg&#8217;s non profit<\/a>, with Lomborg as a key player.  Lomborg has been heavily criticized for his lack of scholarship and seemingly biased policy related to climate change and related issues.  There was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fairgoforcanberra.org.au\/no_ccc\">heavy<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2015\/apr\/21\/wa-students-call-for-bjrn-lomborgs-4m-for-climate-research-to-be-rejected\">opposition<\/a> in the Australian academic community to this project.  Under pressure from peers and colleagues, Vice Chancellor Paul Johnson has announced that the project is cancelled.
