Senior\u2019s Quest For Knowledge<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WAYZATA, Minn. (WCCO) \u2013 When the Wayzata Science Bowl team practices, they mean business. They just won the state championship, and they are now getting ready for nationals in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re all smart kids, that\u2019s obvious, but one of them stands out \u2014 team captain Nathan Stocking.<br \/>\n\u201cThe other team gets intimidated,\u201d said teammate Jayant Chaudhary, \u201cbecause he doesn\u2019t even need paper for pretty complex complications.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stocking is a high school senior, even though he\u2019s only 15 years old.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhether it\u2019s speaking Spanish or Chinese, or if it\u2019s programming computer scripts, or if it\u2019s knowing every detail about a science subject, he excels in all of them,\u201d said teacher Amanda Laden.<br \/>\nBut something else is different about Stocking. He can\u2019t see.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think he was born smart,\u201d says his mother, Karen Cotch. \u201cHe just thrives on knowledge\u2026and we\u2019re just the ones who try to find ways to feed it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stocking lost his sight when he was only a few months old, but he\u2019s been amazing people ever since.<br \/>\n\u201cAt around 8, he started taking middle school classes,\u201d she said. \u201cHis first A.P. class, he was 11, and he went to the high school for that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, he\u2019s only at the high school for science bowl.
