Above is an anomaly map showing the <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/gregladen\/2014\/01\/05\/go-home-arctic-youre-drunk\/\">Drunken Arctic Air<\/a> in central and eastern Canada and the US in contrast with the very (relatively) warm air over western Canada and Alaska.  Remember, these are anomalies, not absolute temperatures.
