{"id":15657,"date":"2013-01-30T06:25:43","date_gmt":"2013-01-30T12:25:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/gregladen\/?p=15657"},"modified":"2013-01-30T06:25:43","modified_gmt":"2013-01-30T12:25:43","slug":"science-vs-anti-science-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gregladen.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/30\/science-vs-anti-science-updates\/","title":{"rendered":"Science vs. Anti Science Updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There is a new anti-science bill in Arizona. <a href=\"http:\/\/ncse.com\/news\/2013\/01\/antiscience-legislation-arizona-0014695\"> Go read about it here.<\/a> It is interesting that these anti-science bills are sounding more and more like pro science bills except for just a few words that allow, encourage, and even require funding for the teaching of climate science denialism and creationism.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Zimmerman <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/michael-zimmerman\/creationists-say-the-darndest-things-and-their-true-colors-are-made-clear_b_2513813.html\">has a nice write up<\/a> on how the big boys in creationism have been rather flustered by a former High School Student (now College Student) Zach Kopplin who, as I&#8217;m sure you know, has been challenging creationists in halls of government and elsewhere for a few years now.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>When Ham was asked if he had seen an article about Zack Kopplin, a Rice University sophomore who has been fighting creationism since his high school days in New Orleans, he responded simply and clearly: &#8220;Yes &#8212; he is a product of the system &#8212; brainwashed by secularists &#8212; is so ignorant about what science really is &#8212; we are writing a blog about it.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Speaking of creationism and stuff,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/independentlens\/blog\/hundreds-of-voucher-schools-teach-creationism-in-science-classes\"> see how teaching it gets funded with public money! <\/a><\/p>\n<p>And, from Big Sky Country, we have this:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>When the time came for Montanans to speak about a creationist bill, no one but its author could be found to speak for it.
