Yet Trump does have a military including extrajudicial killings by drone strike and the USA does have capital punishment by leathal injections and, I think, by firing squads too in some states.

Maybe not, but he has the Attorney General in his corner. An A.G. that has been going around the country undermining the Constitutional idea of separation of church and state and the idea that the president is subject to laws, not above them.

Pessimistic versions include: (1) the Machiavellian Emperor kept on beheading historians until all the historians were dead. (2) The Emperor had many subjects who thought he could do no wrong and the Emperor found one of those who knew or cared nothing for history and installed him as the court historian.
