That is just a hit piece: odious, yes, but bog-standard talking points. The byline is “Digital Management,” which I assume is Ball in disguise. Why he feels the need to comment on U.S. politics is a mystery.

Claims that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is ignorant or unintelligent crop up all the time. These claims are absurd.

* “She came in second in the Microbiology category of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair with a microbiology research project on the effect of antioxidants on the lifespan of the nematode C. elegans.[21]”

* “She graduated cum laude from Boston University’s College of Arts and Sciences in 2011, majoring in international relations and economics.[12][27][28]”

As for “barmaid,” I think “bartender” fits better.

“After college, Ocasio-Cortez moved back to the Bronx and took a job working 18-hour shifts as a bartender and waitress to help her mother—a house cleaner and school-bus driver—fight foreclosure of their home.[31][13]”

Her father had died while she was in college. I like to remind people that Abraham Lincoln was a bartender at one point in his life.

I could think of many an 'ex-something' description for Ball. One would be he is an ex-'first Canadian PhD in climatology.' If only University of Winnipeg had a Climatology department.

From where I sit, this is a good apology. Should we expect more contrition from them? I doubt it, unless we should also expect reparations for slavery and the return of stolen lands to Native Americans.

In my view, the best policy is to move ahead with developing policies for dealing with the effects of climate change while trusting that the holdouts — like Dr. Tim Ball — will in good time see the light.

The real tragedy is that from 2011 on, these asshats and their ilk continued to so muddy the waters around the truth of climate change that we are now in full crisis mode. Apology?
