Much of the data about the massive rate of leaks of gas, liquids, and other contaminants shouldn&#039;t be a surprise: fracking is, despite all the hype, simply a large scale brute force method for getting through to the &quot;good stuff&quot;.]]></description>

There is a sort of &quot;fracking&quot; that I would be very happy to put up with: hydrological fracturing as a way to harvest clean superabundant geothermal energy. As I understand it, it uses plain old water to fracture underground rock formations, allowing geothermal to be useful almost everywhere, not just in a few places out west.

This idea has gigantic potential and almost no press or research to support it.

It might also produce mini-quakes.  Those I could live with.]]></description>
