On the other hand, this text was included in what the Justice Dept produced, and they said they held back texts that related to other investigations. So DoJ was saying this had to do with Hillary case.

Yea, that was a foolish claim. For one thing, Comey had reported two months earlier that the investigation was complete. So there was no reason for Obama to ask about it even if he was inclined to interfere.

It makes perfect sense for Obama to want to involve himself in a counterintelligence investigation, which is what the Russia investigation is.
