I should also add that the Democrats did plenty of opposition also.

I recall that the Senate refused to pass a budget for 6 years – but just keep renewing a continuing resolution to carry forward the budget reconciliation act.

They didn’t want to agree to spending cuts and avoided them with this tactic. Avoiding spending cuts is partly why they lost this election.

So to summarise – I think there is plenty of blame to go around and would not hold the Republicans 100% responsible.

You are correct as to the last 6 years – but wrong as to Obama’s first 2 years.

For his first 2 years, he had a Democratic house and senate.

He could have done anything he wanted (much like Trump now).

He could have passed an energy bill.

He could have done immigration reform.

He could have passed gun control.

He didn’t do any of that.

He spent his 1st two years doing health care reform – which he passed with ZERO votes from republicans (because he had the house and senate).

His big mistake was not doing everything he could in his first two years.

A mistake which I don’t think Trump will make.

I am sure Trump will be acting as if he only has two years (until the 2018 midterms) to get done what he wants to get done – because that is how it usually works in the USA.

We will have to wait to see if we are all going to suffer – that is an open question.

Obama seems to have been despised because he failed to achieve all he promised when elected, but from here it was clear his failure was mainly due to opposition from a Congress dominated by Republicans that worked to block his every move. The lousy state USA believed it had reached by the start of the election campaign was entirely due to actions by GOP and its supporters. Now we’re all going to suffer.

What a strange situation we’re in – the majority of the voters rejected Trump, but he’ll be elected anyway, thanks to our un-democratic Constitution. We got rid of slavery, why can’t we get rid of the Electoral College?

Newsflash: A minority of registered US voters (~27% IIRC) voted for The As Yet Unregistered Sex Offender and abuser of orange tan sprays. As the majority of those voters are from the highest tax paying areas of the country that could be interpreted as taxation without representation. Given also the several million black and latino voters that were unethically purged from voter rolls by GOP administrations, untold hundreds of thousands of poor, black, ad latino voters who were unable to vote for lacking ridiculous and unnecessary voter ID laws designed for that specific purpose, the closure of over 800 polling stations in predominantly black/poor/ latino districts by GOP administrations, you didn’t win the election, you stole it.

He was racist against whites, he would somehow serve beyond two terms, he wasn’t a US citizen, secret Muslim that would instill Sharia Law. Under Obama women would be forced to have abortions, all guns would be banned, and we would simultaneously exist in a theocracy and communist dictatorship! Eight years of comparisons between him and an ape, insults at his family, declarations that he destroyed America, and the fun part? Of all the accusations, every single one was proven wrong. Everyone, for instance, still has their guns.

So that is why, after eight years of tea party nonsense, I get to be annoyed at Trump’s election. I do think the protests are silly, but the mistrust of Trump certainly makes sense.

Newsflash: The nation voted a majority for Hillary Clinton. Which means American does not want Trump.

Get over it.

Trump is only “the presumptive president-elect”, since the Popular Vote did not favor him, and the Electoral College has yet to elect him — if they do (which may be likely, but it won’t happen for another month).

Now… Get over yourself. And try to find some moral political beliefs while you’re at it.
