"It’s not that hard: Answer why SCM didn’t hire Mann in 1999? OR why didn’t one of them prick-and-promote him from UVA?"

How do you know they didn't try or even consider to try?

This really isn't that hard a problem.

Why didn't Michaell Mann's home-stets universities, Harvard and MIT take him?

Berkeley was way easier to get into. But it was hard to graduate near-top-of-class.

Why didn't Berkeley profs--preeminent sscientists--send Mr. Mann to MIT, Harvard, Stanford, Caltech, Princeton, Cambridge or Berkeley for his PhD?

Then why didn't second tier Yale move Mann up to one of the foregoing for a post-doc? Why did they send him to third-rate UMass? And then why did he go to third-rate UVA, then PSU?

There are rules about where students are admitted as UG's, then PhD's, then postdocs, then asst profs, then profs. You can start out low, like judy Curry, and rise to GTech prof. You can start out semi-low, iike Marcia McNutt, and rise to MIT/Stanford Prof and NS Pres. You can start out with high opportunities, and not fulfill them, like Michael Mann, and you are eventually cooked. Why, for example, upon presenting the world-changing MBH hockey stick, didn't geophysics powers Stanford, Caltech, MIT grab him for a fast-rising academy appointment?

It's not that hard: Answer why SCM didn't hire Mann in 1999? OR why didn't one of them prick-and-promote him from UVA?

Watched Michael Mann share his insights on the Bill Maher Friday night show last week! Short but excellent discussion. I love Bill Maher very valuable show! I don't always agree with all of his talking points, but it's always about broaching the topics and widening the discussion to effect lives and save the planet!
I always have to ask what am I or any other complainers out there in the techno audience doing to better life and care for all creatures and the earth as our mother. Bill has really strong points of view, but I have seen him change his mind and position at times. Much love and regard to all! Disarm and Live!

>anti-gmo crackpot

if you consider yourself rational and scientific, read the ideas in this paper and see if you don't come around to understanding that anti-gmo people have some very valid concerns
