But the current phase of sped-up devolution began with the petulant and systematic “taking back” of the country after the Viet Nam debacle.

Russel is right in that the neocons (including free market fundamentalists, ditto-heads, and a whole zoo of spittle flecked John Birch types etc.) had a major role in barfing up tea bags.

The President didn’t just “mention” climate change. He said, “And this brings me to the challenge I want to focus on today — one where our Coast Guardsmen are already on the front lines, and that, perhaps more than any other, will shape your entire careers — and that’s the urgent need to combat and adapt to climate change.”
And he’s partly right, the Coast Guard is getting an additional ‘mega’ ice breaker for the Great Lakes.

The Republican Party’s “news” network was 7% accurate in reporting climate change in year 2013; 23% accurate in year 2014. I hope this is a trend.
