That’s neither an endorsement nor an objection (nor is it an endorsement or objection to the comment policy here) it’s just to note that Russell is practically an institution among the commentariat on the better known climate sites.

However, the argument could be made that this warming, vis-a-vis previously postulated cooling, is expected under current circumstances. So I’m happy to leave off “fingerprint” so that term can be strictly applied.

I actually think the original title you had for this post—“A Global Warming Fingerprint Confirmed: Upper Troposphere Warming”—was fine. The hot spot is not a *human* fingerprint, but it is certainly a fingerprint of global warming at the surface, since more warmth (from whatever origin) means more water vapor, which is amplified in the LT and MT.) Since you didn’t explicitly refer to a *human* fingerprint in your original title, I think it was perfectly fine as-is.
