Yes, essentially. 1000 calories of fat will give you fat. 1000 calories of non-fat complex carbohydrates might do a good job of giving you hours of energy as it is digested, and chances are some of it won&#039;t be digested into usable energy. 1000 calories of simple sugar, all at once, is too much too fast to use as energy so some will be converted to stored energy, and depending on what the liver already has stored up, some/much of that will be converted into fat.

It simply isn&#039;t the case that 1000 calories is 1000 calories. It depends on what form it comes in and the rate of ingestion.
