Excellent news! Brembs is a good guy, who’s done some very interesting research. I’ve just posted a comment on his blog (and quite a short one compared to my often too-long comments here;-)

I think it’s likely that the stink over the Frontiers issue is going to give that paper and its memes more coverage than if they’d just published it and that was that. Good. I’ve had it up to here with CTers; they are going from being annoying to being overtly dangerous.

Yes, exactly, and yes, not only has Frontiers taken action that may well negatively affect a number of careers for no apparent reason, making themselves a publishing out let that most will want to avoid at all costs, but they’ve handed science denialist another bone to chew on.

It won’t matter how it shakes out. Deniers will always claim it was retracted for some legitimate reason. Just like how they claim the Hockey Stick was broken…

The real story is clearly much more involved than the stories so far have indicated.

It will be interesting to see the people Frontiers chooses as replacements for Ugo Bardi and Bjorn Brems.
