June 14, 1981 -- the tornado that started in Edina, crossed Lake Harriet in Minneapolis, and ended up in the Northeast suburbs of the Twin Cities.  Plenty scary, but just for a couple minutes, as the famous rumble approached, a tree went down on our porch, and then (several minutes later) the sirens went off.  It must be so much worse to experience a storm that blasts away with tornado force winds for hours and hours.]]></description>
