When the models show 400% variations in their predictions, I dont think they are within reasonable scientific limits. About 50 years ago Scientific American had a good article on the carbon cycle and in the piece, they had a prediction for temperature rise by 2000. The model predicted the rise pretty accurately.
and at that time there was no argument at all about increasing the CO2 in the atmosphere and a rise in global temperatures. As the carbon goes up so does the temperature. The problem is the earth has been a hell of a lot warmer in the geologic past than it is now. So man cant be the whole cause of the climate rise. There are other systems at work, and that was what I was pointing out. Conservation is not a serious goal, the earth changes, you cant pick a point on a timeline and say “We will keep it like this” Our own evolution is a demonstration of life adapting to new situations and climates. There is no reason to believe that “we” are special, 99% of the species that have existed on this planet are extinct. I think the odds are against us in the long run, I would bet on sea worms, alligators and cockroaches and termites and ants. These guys dont have to fake their data, they are just survivors, maybe we shouldnt be.

Right now, we know that we can increase global temperatures by 3.2 degrees, give or take 1 degree (Celsius) by doubling CO2.

ed eckard: For the record you do not know what you are talking about at all. You have utterly mischaracterized climate science and misrepresented what science knows and doesn’t know.

Perhaps YOU don’t know these things, but please do not project your ignorance on the rest of us!

The Kansans should be embarrassed, there are a great many well educated people in the state and they hate to make the news with people who think the moon walk was faked and world wrestling bouts are real.

The climate is changing, it has for the 4 billion or so years of earths existence, the question is” how much are we affecting the process?” right now, I dont think anybody really knows, the models are chaotic. It only makes sense if we add to the carbon burden it is going to have an effect, the outcome is maybe we have the next ice age a few thousand years sooner and canada grows more wheat? Who really knows? If the creationists dont believe in evolution, why do they line up for the latest flu shots? By their thinking the 1963 shot should still be good.

In the first one I really didn’t like “but the argument over teaching evolution as part of public school science classes has proved to be needlessly divisive and embarrassing”.
I could use that argument about almost anything controversial. Bringing up ecological concerns is often branded “divisive”.

But what I really wanted to comment on was Adam’s hair and beard being trimmed to suit my expectations. That’s vanity. And it’s against God’s law I believe too. Maybe they were Christian before the fall.
