Please pay special note - and give credit to – President Tsai of Taiwan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsai_Ing-wen

She has overseen remarkably successful Covid-19 containment efforts in her country. (And yes, Taiwan – though absent from WHO interviews, absent from The New Scientist, absent from The Financial Times, absent from President Trump's press briefings – indeed not only a pariah DEMOCRACY, but evidently unmentionable by lily-livered public health auhorities as well – is the missing and for all intents and purposes invisible ELEPHANT in the room of most Covid-19 discussions)

And since this rant – which will be amplfied with references – is spiralling off-topic and belongs, appropriately, on Greg's recent Covid-19 blog posts, that is where my future comments on Taiwan will appear.

In the meantime - kudos to Singapore, which has 5.6 million people. Taiwan has 23.8 million people, and is more densely populated than South Korea or Japan. It also likely had more widespread initial exposure to SARS-CoV-2-positive people from the Chinese mainland.
_________
Greg, if you read this, please delete my redundant comment as "Anonymous" directly above. I wasn't paying attention and ran out of time before filling in the name and email fields.
