I agree that the 1st amdt prohibits government from defining religious terms such as ‘marriage’. Everyone is free to define the word anyway they desire. And it’s a shame that theocommies don’t agree.

And since civil union is just as good as marriage according to you, why don’t the christians take civil union and regular people can have marriage?

Since…you know…marriage pre-dates christians and those assholes co-opted it and declared that it was their thing.

And on a side note, christians haven’t always been largely opposed to gay marriage.
It used to be really common to get gay married and have it sanctioned by the church.

@5.2, I am saying it is a choice to be a “life long” speeder similar to being a choice for your sexual partner. I learned of homosexuality around age 10 or 11 as well as heterosexuality. There was a boy in my class that acted different but I had never thought much about it. One day I finally realized why I thought he was different. He was acting very feminine. I looked at him as well as the girls in my class and decided that if I preferred him I would not be able to have (biological) children whereas with girls I knew I could. I also decided I already know what he looks like when undressed and it was nothing new. On the other hand the girls were something new and very illusive. It was at that time that I decided I preferred girls. Do I hate anyone who chooses the other life style….No. I do not agree with it in that they can no longer create life and therefore are missing out on watching their own flesh and blood grow into something special. I know you can adopt and am a large proponent of adoption but raising and caring for your own child is something you will never see.
