There is, according to some, method to the madness of Ron Paul running for president every four years. Yes, he advances his Libertarian position. But he also, much like Newt does, keeps his name in the news so that his merchandising of his name-brand products produces income.

But, you may ask, what does this have to do with his presidential run? Simple, political contributions to a candidates campaign are contributions to the candidate. He can, quite literally, pocket that money.

It has also been noted by others just how slim and cost conscious the RP campaign is and how many family members and close friends are functionaries within the organization. Most of those positions are paid for and some of them are entitle the person to unemployment compensation upon being laid off.

What this comes down to is that Ron Paul is paid and receives benefits by being a politician but he, and his family, make their living running for office, shaking down contributors, and making speeches. This is on top of being a career politician.

He said in a statement that he will continue to fight former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney for delegates at state conventions around the country, but he will no longer spend any money on upcoming primary contests.

He can do that? If he'd thought of that earlier, he could have saved a ton of money and just run without campaigning.

Pass the popcorn.

I was disappointed when Newt's meds kicked in and he gave up his campaign.

I was quite looking forward to an enormous fight for platform language, delegates...everything. Just one big Rethuglican hate-fest.

Now it looks like we'll only have Paul's brand of loonies to count on to provide the entertainment.

I often wonder who is more delusional, Ron Paul or his worshipers.

Let's say, theoretically, he manages game the system to the point where he amasses enough delegates to wrest the nomination away from Romney. What kind of mandate can he claim having lost every single popular vote in the primaries? Even if he packs the convention with enough paultards, how can he convince the party rank-in-file that he is the better candidate when he couldn't convince them during the primary?
