I don’t understand why we are going backwards as it is with states making all these laws about gays, the lack of science in classrooms (attempting to put creationism into science classes), etc. We were a foreward thinking country and now we are starting to look like a backwoods, ignorant country.

I see it as a last gasp effort to stem the tide of history. Perhaps wishful thinking on my part but I really don’t think so. Support for gay marriage among younger people is far higher than among the older population.

Greg: Great post! I’ve been saying for the past couple of days all over FTB that this would be THE issue of 2012, at all levels, not just for the presidency. Many Republicans, including Romney, may do very well with it this year. In the future, not so much. SCOTUS is very worrying.
