					<description><![CDATA[I remember first hearing about Vostok several years ago and being very excited about what we might find when we finally got in there.  It&#039;s great to hear that we&#039;re nearly there!  Hopefully this will be just the beginning of some interesting discoveries.  This reminds me of some interesting research recently done by a group here in Finland; they studied samples from a borehole (up to a depth of 1500m) and characterized the changes in the microbial community at different depths.
