@ ^ Francisco Bacopa : I’m not sure that works on any FTB blog -it doesnt on Pharnygula

I thought Google would find the links anywhere and that every link tended to boost the Google ranking. Why would FtB be any different? Or Am I completely mistaken about how this works?

Am I a bad person for having this overbearing desire to visit the RNC and lick the tears of unfathomable sadness directly off the faces of their political consultants?

These results are definitely a positive surprise - I mean, on the one hand it's sad that Santorum is capable of winning anything save for a "most despicable human being" award, but on the other hand the continued, and even intensifying GOP infighting has a definite chance of crippling Romney ahead of his nomination.

Santorum as the nominee, of course, would be the best thing that could happen to Obama, better even than Swingrich - I still think it's going to be Romney, though, but hopefully in a sufficiently damaged condition.

StevoR @ #3:

t seems most likely that’ll buy him the R-nomination and later, quite possibly, the US Presidency itself. Depressing.

Romney's personal wealth is a great asset to him in the nomination process, but in the general election it will probably make not that much of a difference - both sides are looking at collecting something around a billion dollars in donations for this one, so any tens of millions Romney might chip in from his private purse are useful, but not an insurmountable advantage.

Revolting to see santorum doing so well - "Mr Stinkyfroth" is about as appetising as he sounds - but I still reckon Mittens will get the R-nom in the end.

I read a good article today in the 'Guardian Weekly' newspaper on the role money plays in US politics. Great quote from there :

“Money in American politics was already an elephant in the room. Now the supreme court [lack of caps original- ed.] has given it a laxative, taken away the shovel and asked us to ignore both the sight and the stench.”
- Page 19, “In the US money always matters” opinion (?) article by Gary Younge, ‘Guardian Weekly’, 3rd-9th Feb. 2012.

The same source notes that Mittens Romney, apparently, has *double* the personal wealth of the last *eight* presidents combined. (Not sure if that includes Obama or not.)

It seems most likely that’ll buy him the R-nomination and later, quite possibly, the US Presidency itself. Depressing.
