My brother and I were bullied for being “new wave” (it was the late 80’s), and we were a teacher’s kids. My brother got a lot of “faggot” kind of slurs, too, because he wasn’t a head-banger or cowboy (the only two acceptable male types). My not-out-at-the-time gay friends got a lot of bullying, too. Junior high and high school sucked. I counted down the years, months, weeks, and days until graduation so I could get the hell out of there. College was so much better, then getting out of the college town was even better than that.
Don’t change, Zachary. You and your mom are awesome. Those losers who bully you are going to always be losers. I’m rooting for you.

I moved a lot when younger and was bullied somewhat for being the ‘new kid’. The only thing that stopped my bullies was me pounding their heads on concrete. I never understood why they would initiate a physical attack in front of a teacher but it allowed me to never get in trouble for it. I was also lucky that I’m good at fighting.

That said, I also tried going to teachers and admin and they were either seriously uninterested or the bully was the son of a teacher or from a socially important family or…. They never took any action that actually made a difference.

That’s sad. But I doubt Congress would pass the SNDA since they still won’t pass the all-encompassing ENDA (Employee NDA) to include gender identity.

Although I’m lucky that I work for an agency that has passed its own all-encompassing NDA, I know there are many other trans persons who aren’t, and who can’t come out for fear of losing their jobs.

And the sick bastard filming it… *growls* If this had happened in my highschool or middleschool, I would have waded into the fray and returned the favor to that little asshole. After all, if I was perfectly willing to chase after a bunch of boys while brandishing a stick and trying my best to hit them because they were ripping the wings off butterflies, you better believe shit would hit the fan if this had happened in front of me.

That is seriously fucked up. The school is making a safe space for bullies and violent offenders.
