I don’t agree. Perry is a died-in-the-wool Protestant Confederate govmint hating redneck. He doesn’t care about liberal yankee states like New Hampshire. South Carolina will be the true test of Perry. If he does well there he could become the darling of the racist teaparty South and sweep a lot of the former confederate states.

(For a trip into full-on conspiracy territory, look up the Wikipedia article Romney-Pratt family. Romney and Huntsman are both direct descendants of the same Mormon polygamist who fled to Mexico with his four wives to avoid prosecution, making them both Chicanos. [insert appropriate emoticon here]) If I were in a position to play dirty pool, this is the pool I would be splashing in.

It’s always been a choice between Romney and not-Romney, and Romney is the choice of the party apparatchiks. If we see Huntsman break for second, all that means is that a shadowy cabal of Mormons has replaced the Illuminati. “Heads I win, tails you lose.”

And as my Republican Mom said of Hunstman, “He speaks Manchurian!” (NB: Manchu is a critically endangered language. Hunstman speaks Mandarin. Still, my underinformed Mom can be awful cute.)
