I was thinking Sputnik straight away too. 

Oh well, I&#039;ll have to content myself with pointing out the implausible intactness and lack of weathering. After all, it was supposed to be &quot;landing&quot; &lt;i&gt;(if that&#039;s the word)&lt;/i&gt; in 26 fragments wasn&#039;t it?

Still a good joke to play though - still think they should have greeted the returning STS-135 &lt;i&gt;Atlantis&lt;/i&gt; astronauts in gorilla suits too. ;-) ]]></description>

Another problem of course is that the device is much larger than either Sputnik or Vanguard - although the antennae are a bit short.
