I had a different take on it distinct from physical destruction, that of polluting.
Either from drowned monkeys or monkeys contaminating roofs which then divert rainwater to tanks.
It seems superficially to be a reasonable vector for certain diseases , ( Hep A came to mind as a possibility) but have no idea at all if it’s possible.
I don’t know if monkeys will defecate on roofs or not. I’m pretty sure a monkey expert would. I can also see a hot roof in the sun is gonna be pretty lethal to a lot of possible nasty bugs, prior to rain.
Anyhow I did a little search about what monkeys can carry personally, nevermind what they might track on to a roof from ground on their feet, and found this interesting site.
