However, I beg to differ with the poor white meme. I mean I agree with it, but think it overlooks a more poignant slice of the teabagger movement. The formerly middle class whites, that became lower-middle class whites, and are now fearful of becoming poor whites. This fear is palpable and fear is a great motivator to find scape goats. The right wing plays off fear like Limbaugh plays with cheese curds, so those formerly middle class whites are now shitting themselves for fear of losing their economic status. Instead of going after those who helped get them there, its easier to go after those who are of even lower status.
