I have a Nazi analogy! We executed the Nazi leadership at Nuremberg for the supreme international war crime of aggression against a sovereign country. The fact that the Nazis excused their actions as liberating Poland and France from the Jews, a preemptive attack for German security, and a patriotic and economic necessity didn’t mitigate their crime. So why aren’t Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, et al six feet under already? Could it be a little Christian hypocrisy?

Joshua, I assume you are using the term “rhetoric” to mean “bullshit” as opposed to just … well, “rhetoric.” In which case, I call bullshit. The fact that republicans are a deadly enemy entitles the use of the phrase. Their fault, not mine, not Mahers.

I’d feel better without this sort of rhetoric being thrown around. It isn’t helpful when it comes from either end of the political spectrum. (That said, Maher actually seemed a bit restrained compared to the headline. In the context of what he said he was simply using a fairly poor analogy.) But seriously, this is very similar to the sort of rhetoric that leads to violence from the right. We don’t need it.
